Hi All,

Flying to Vegas early April.

5 of us are flying Upper and 1 flying in Economy.

I know we can comp her into the lounge but can she come up to the Upper Cabin during the flight? Does this happen?

Any tips on limiting excluding her would be great. Thanks.

It is possible to invite them for a drink in UC but this is down to the CSM and the CC on the day and will depend on how busy the cabin is etc. You won't be able to pass her around the 5 of you either to extend her stay.

You have to remember that other people will not like other passengers coming into UC. (if you are wearing a hard hat there are several threads on the BA flyer talk board about this very subject - it does generate a lot of heat)

You should be thinking of her not being allowed in full stop and if it does happen then it happens but don't abuse it if it does.

fwiw on a flight back from IAD in january, not a busy one, i was in UC and asked if it'd be ok for a colleague in PE to join me at the bar for a drink before lights out

response was that they couldn't as it often generates complaints from other UC pax, i suppose it also avoids unpleasantness if someone's 'guest' is asked to leave early for whatever reason

given that and the history of alcohol-driven naughtiness on the LAS route, i doubt the CC would ok it

tbh the bar is nothing special, you can always get an extra glass (or five) of bubbly and take turns to pay them a visit instead :)

I can't think of any good reason for your "friend" to be stuck in economy other than a cost issue.

5 of you could chip in to upgrade her ticket? :D

lol! you made me spray my screen with coffee!

If you value her at £40 then you can pre-order some champers to be sent to her seat.

If you're even cheaper you used to be able to order cup-cakes for about £15 from retail therapy !

When we flew upper to NYC last January we managed to get my aunty to the bar from PE for about 3 drinks :-) The fact that the bar was pretty quiet was in our favour and the CSM just said if the bar got busy she would have to return to PE.

Haha sorry about that. I speak the truth.

Oh thats a nice idea. I will think about that. Is there a way I can order this and pay for it onboard?

Also does she not get unlimited free drinks in economy anyway?

You have to do it in advance via the retail therapy team

Yes but they don't get champers in Economy.

Flew that route a few weeks back and someone got a friend up to the bar from Economy - no problem. Didn't raise any eyebrows or cause any fuss....it was two other UC passengers that got pi$$ed up, loud and rude... ;-)
