Hi all,

Firstly, thank you so much for all your help in recent times, hopefully you might be able to answer this one. Here are the plans so far:

Outbound - Sept 16 2 adults 1 infant UC LGW-MCO
Inbound - Sept 16 2 adults 1 infant PE MCO-LGW

The Inbound flight was using the upgrade Econ-Prem Econ with the black card. Paid using miles. I didn't have enough miles then to cash in and get UC.

If my some miracle, I noticed now that 2 spaced showed up in UC on the way home is there a way I could 'cancel' my inbound PE seats and get the UC seats? If so, approx how much would this cost me, and would I get my miles back?

Any chance of getting these seats with only 4 months to go?

I'm guessing it wouldn't work.
The PE upgrades are not upgrade-able to Upper.
The only time I tried to upgrade a non upgrade-able PE ticket I was just told it couldn't be done without cancelling my existing one and starting again at an horrendous price.

It's definitely possible - it's true you can't use miles to upgrade from PE to UC if you've already used the Amex voucher to upgrade to PE, but should Gs suddenly become available you can call up, ask to cancel the voucher upgrade (which will be credited back to your account) and then use 40,000 miles per person (plus additional taxes & fees) to upgrade direct from Economy to UC, no problem.

Whether 2 x Gs open up on your flight, however, is down to pot luck. There are only 14 UC seats on the plane and once they're sold, they're sold. Keep checking for availability daily and keep your fingers crossed.

I did this recently. We were in PE going from MAN to LAS using the vouchers. I saw UC availability one day, called up FC and within five minutes had cancelled the vouchers (your miles are refunded in full) and then just did a full redemption for UC. Good luck :)
