"Advised of Snooze"

I've never seen this stamped on my boarding pass before.

I was also asked if I knew that I was in the snooze zone three times: once each by three different members of staff... and I've only got as far as the (JFK) CH!

VS have been doing this for a while. Had it stamped on my boarding pass the one and only time I've flown back from the east coast in the snooze zone. I think that was JFK as well.

They press you about it as technically you won't get any service on board after take-off until breakfast.

Usually because the snooze zone seats are the only ones left so there is no choice.

Is there a snooze zone in UC on all aircraft doing overnight flights? We're booked on BGI-LGW in May on an A330 and I didn't see anything about it mentioned.

The 10 UC seats on the Upper Deck of LHR based 747's were a snooze zone too. Obviously no longer applicable as the LHR 747 fleet is gone - but the seat map for it is still on the Virgin Website "Our Fleet" page. (Virgin IT on the ball, as always!)

I'm travelling on the A346 in May and wasn't aware that there is a snooze zone. Please could someone confirm which rows/seats this zone relates to. Thanks

In theory the snooze zone only exists on the East Coast routes (JFK/EWR/BOS/IAD) and to DXB, to maximise sleep time on flights that can be as short as 5.5 hours.

And I believe it's only the A346 that has a snooze zone now, in rows 1-7. The A330 certainly doesn't and I don't think the Dreamliner does either.

So in practice it's usually only the VS2, 4 and 10 that have it now.

No I don't think so - certainly not on the flights I have had from GND, UVF and BGI - the flight is slightly longer than the East Coast routes so there is time for a meal service immediately after take off (the lounge facilities in the Caribbean are average at best so no expect no more than a sandwich and a bag of crisps).

In our experiences the whole cabin then effectively became a snooze zone with the lights off - of course people were watching movies/reading lights on, but was dark and quiet enough for a good few hours kip.

And as above, the snooze zone is only present on the really short overnight flights where people may want to maximise sleep time so they can work the next morning. Do a longer overnight flight & there is time for dinner to be served & everyone get a good few hours sleep before breakfast.

I'm sure it was bigger as well = possibly row 5 or even 6.

One flight I was on I was in one of rows 6, 7 or 8 (can't remember which but I knew I'd selected a non snooze seat) and the curtain was behind me but I still got full service and so did a couple of other people sat in those rows. I know I wrote about it in a TR but I can't find it now. Most likely have been from EWR


On the current seat maps they are located

LGW 747 - no snooze
787-9 - no snooze
A343 - rows 14/14/16 (mini cabin)
A346 - rows 1+2 on the A/K sides and 1-4 on the D rank
A330 - no snooze

One brilliant and lovely member of the VS staff (who shall remain nameless) quietly adjusted the lettering on the stamp so that it read "ADVISED OF BOOZE!"

Apologies but I cannot find any definition of "snooze zone" on the VS website. What is the definition?
I am scheduled to Fly EWR-LHR on the VS002 A346 in April 17. Will it still be a 346 and what does sitting in Seats 2A & 2D really mean as its in the Snooze Zone.

It should mean they turn the lights off asap after take-off and leave them off, with no food or beverage service other than the welcome drink. You can, however, eat & drink at the bar (and of course in the Clubhouse before you board).

Whether that actually happens seems to be a bit of a lottery.

The seat maps on the VS website for each plane have the snooze zone marked on it so look at those.

The SZ basically operates on the late flights TO the UK from the north east of the US (so BOS/JFK/IAD/EWR)

I think the Dubai flight from London also has a snooze zone.
