My Son has just turned 12 and we have a couple of G reward flights next year to visit the mouse

(LHR > MIA out and ATL > LHR back - no mco flights in july obv.)

He is not a flying club member yet, me not being gold and him being too young before to have his own account.

THe standard way would have been for me to recommended him and get bonus etc, but it states that it must be a paying flight to qualify. No G's! Fair enough I suppose.

So with that preamble out the way :-)

I'm just about to buy separate Delta flights for the MCO to ATL leg and wondering whether to recommend him as a friend and then put his nice new VS number into his Delta booking. Would that trigger the bonus?

In a word - No.
Flight has to be on VS metal - the T&C make this clear - 3.2.4 For every person you refer who joins Flying Club, you will earn Miles on the basis of the cabin in which they complete their first round trip with Virgin Atlantic:

See here for ful T&C - http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/gb/en/fl ... _text_7de9

There is a solution for you though.

For the next 7(ish) days, if you signup for a new flying club account via the Virgin Red app you will get 3000 bonus miles without the need to fly at all.

The app is on Android and iPhone, no purchase needed etc etc.
