Off season flight cancellations

Hi everyone!
We are looking to fly to Orlando in November 2017 and at the moment, there are 2 flights available on the Saturday we want to fly - VS27 and VS15
We always fly to Orlando outside of peak season and pretty much every time we've booked, VA end up merging the 2 flights and we end up losing our pre-booked seats
In your opinion, if VA do cancel one of these flights closer to departure, are they more likely to keep the morning flight (VS27 @11:40am)) or the afternoon flight (VS15 @ 1:00pm)

Hard to say I'm afraid.

Looking at a random week in January, when there's only one MCO flight a day scheduled, on five days it's the VS27 that operates and on one (the Saturday) it's the VS15.

But when it comes to merging flights they may make the decision according to loads, and cut the flight that has the fewest passengers in order to minimise disruption.

I was on VS15 for my next flight.
I booked at T- 11 months and picked 6A &6K
They merged and we were moved to VS27 with the earlier departure.
Plus when I called about seats I was told 6A & K were not available. They weren't taken, just not available.
I gave a bit of a sob story about always booking early to get our favorite seats and after a quite chat with a supervisor our man managed to free the seats and allocate them to us.
I prefer the later flight to have more time in the CH but it is what it is.
