We're hoping to go to Orlando Dec 2017 with VA in UC using reward seats. I know getting reward seats to MCO is virtually impossible so planning to go via Atlanta and then internal with Delta.

Looking at the VA website there is availability in UC for miles only flights for EVERY day in October 2017 but practically nothing for November 2017 even though in theory you can now book up to 13th Nov 2017.

Does anyone have any idea whats going on or is VA keeping everything back so we all have to book after Jan 13th we all the miles goes up !!!!!!!

VS (not VA and this is not a petty distinction) release reward seats when they want to. There is no pattern at all. Also you are looking at the far end of when they start selling tickets let alone offer rewards

You need to keep checking on a regular basis.

But no they are not keeping rewards back until after the change. There are plenty of rewards (well on the route I want) available now.

Historically there have been rewards to MCO in Upper as long as you get in early.
I managed to get us two seats out in Feb 17 by booking in April this year.
Sadly when time came to book the return 4 weeks later nothing came up so we opted to come back via ATL
Not as bad as it seems because we drive up to South Carolina and ATL is actually slightly nearer our destination.

Over the years I have found that the rewards seats tended to come out a few weeks after the flight was first released.
Best advice has already been given: Keep checking. I would check up to 4 times a day and have usually made my booking around 6 a.m.

Best of luck.

To add to what has already been said, as is the case with other major airlines, VS use complex algorithms to calculate when demand is likely to be lower and then offer reward seats (more than likely they are still using "Major Morgan" ;-) ) and as demand on the ATL route is increasing it could be the availability of rewards are falling.

From personal experience, i have noticed more and more business passengers on the route and it could be many business pax are now using the ATL Gateway rather than JFK.

As the others said, keep searching
