I have managed to do some useful clearing out today, rather than slouching in front of the tv as intended, and feel very self satisfied with the result!
However I did find some old travel documents which made me realise how many of the old names in aviation have gone, either in takeovers or going bankrupt. My first flight was with BEA from Ringway in a Dakota, and years later my first Trans Atlantic was with TWA on a 747.
Other carriers I have travelled on such as BMI, Dan Air, PSA, Republic, Braniff, Eastern, Virgin America and Continental are no more. Some of these I would have thought to be too big to fail!
Let us hope that Delta appreciates the Virgin brand enough?
Has anyone else memories of the days when there was more variety in the skies?

Virgin America hasn't gone yet and will still be around for a while until all the US legal formalities have been completed which won't be until 2018
