Underlying miles/points after upgrade

Just to confirm

Miles and TP for underlying revenue fare are still credited after a reward upgrade - in my case S class revenue fare, upgraded to a miles G UC seat.

But, it's still not automatic and you have to email FC. (And its taking about 3 weeks in the current situation).

I can't ever see that changing as long as G is used for both upgrades and full rewards.

Gs don't earn miles or TPs so even if you upgrade from a qualifying revenue fare, the system thinks it's a reward booking.

I suspect the only way to rectify that would be to have separate codes for rewards & upgrades. There's little incentive for them to do that though.
