10 hour layover in LHR

There seems to be some good prices ex EDI to JFK via LHR with Flybe connecting but the return gives a 10 hour connection in LHR.

Do you think that VS in JFK will book bags straight through to EDI or will make us collect bags in LHR due to the long layover time ?
