I am 99.9% certain I know the answer to this.. But will ask anyway...

There is no grace period at the end of the Tier Point year right? Like on BA, you can move TP's from the first 14 days of the new year into the last, just in case you are a couple of tier points short of Gold.

Correct as far as I can tell, however, unlike BA, your tier points do last for a full 12 months after each flight though and still count towards upgrading your status even if your status drops.

I've just used the tactic to get back to AU as even though my previous AU membership ran out in July and dropped down to AG, I'd worked out from previous flight dates (I log them all in a spreadsheet) that I had until September 16th to earn a further 220 tier points to hit AU again (1000 TP's within any 12 month period) which is why I flew to JFK from MAN at the beginning of September on an Upper Class I fare.

Yeah, I will currently renew gold with my current travel, so thats OK.

But I looked at changing an inbound flight by about 6 days to extend my trip but that falls after my deadline for achieving AU renewal and thought I could use the BA trick to still get gold.

I'll probably fly back as planned and gain the TP's then buy another flight and fly back the following day just to avoid the loss of points.
