So I want to book 2 Delta One/first class vS reward seats on the LGW-DTW-MCO route.

When I search on the VS website for LHR-MCO for the date I want (14th Dec) there is no availability as a through ticket. However if I search LHR-DTW and the DTW-MCO there is availability as 2 separate sectors.

I’ve spoken to VS customer service and VS flying club and they say they can see the flights but can’t book both sectors on a single ticket as the way Delta have given them/loaded them in the system doesn’t allow it. I know that this is a valid route and the specific flights I want can be booked on a single ticket as my son is on those exact flights on 25th December.

I don’t want to book them on 2 separate tickets as I want to go through DTW as a transit passenger and just do immigration and customs without having to check in for the 2nd flight.

Does anyone have any ideas or contact numbers of anyone inDelta I can speak to to see if something can be changed, or ideas of how Virgin could book this so I can get it as a through flight.

TIA :-D

I would have thought even if it is 2 separate tickets, the agent at Heathrow will check you in for both sectors.

I recently flew MCO - ATL (Delta) followed by ATL-LHR (Virgin) and the Delta agent gave me both sets of boarding passes at Orlando.

VS can only offer you what DL make available so if it's to separate tickets then that is what you will have to have.

There is no point in calling DL as they won't be able to book anything using VS miles.

Is there a reason why you aren't looking at a direct LGW-MCO reward flight on VS?

Hello Tontybear ....... there is no availability for direct LGW-MCO. We want to go on Sat Dec 14th and Virgin haven’t released any direct flights and historically don’t as it’s too near Xmas and far too popular so they can sell every seat as a revenue fare

Even if you have two separate legs they can check your bag the entire way, and either way you will have to clear customs and immigration in Detroit and claim your bag and check it back in (usually it’s picking it up off carousel and then dropping off to another carousel where scanned by team member)
