I’m not convinced they did fly on VS! Apparently they flew a private jet config 767.

The VS and Ethiopian flights (which were pretty much in convoy) was for fans.

Veuling was very good with two 321s operating on each “slot” they had from LPL on Friday.

The VS source provides the answer

It was for the team.

No I’m not convinced that VS source is right as there’s numerous posts of this private 767 which was for the team. I think as VS source tends to be reports from spotters people have just made an assumption.

The team were on an Aeronexus 767. The pictures some of them posted on social media (specifically after the match, with trophy in tow) very clearly show the inside of that particular aircraft and definitely not a VS A330.

Given the amount of people wanting to get there from the north west, it's highly likely it was another charter, even possibly by the club for anybody who couldn't get on the 767 - lot's of club invites/press/sponsors etc they'd need to take as well.

The team did fly back on a 767 but are you sure they didn’t fly out on VS metal?

VS were down a 346 at the weekend as G-VFIT went tech in Delhi. G-VLUV (which flew out to MAD) turned straight back around to LHR and then operated the VS25 with a delay in the place of the usual A346.

Is it possible that the 767 was drafted in for the return due to there being a lack of available aircraft to return the team?

To sum up the above posts, the Liverpool FC squad flew out on the Aeronexus 767 and came back on the same aircraft. There's lots of photos about of the squad boarding the plane, posing outside it and taken inside to verify this. :-)

Boarding the outbound flight (note the lack of winglet): https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2019/05/31 ... 180764.jpg
Return with the trophy (definitely not a UCS seat): https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/efaab123 ... 7d53619e29

I don't know what G-VLUV was conveying, but for airlifts ahead of big games it's not unusual for planes to be chartered in from all over the place. There was also a Corsair 747 and an Ethiopian 787 chartered in, whilst last year when the Final was in Kiev there was a South African Airways A340-600 chartered amongst others. All of these types are rare aircraft for LPL as the staple diet there is usually A320 series aircraft, 737's, props such as Dash 8's, private jets and general aviation traffic.

The VS source has edited that post as it definitely stated it was for the team a couple of days ago.

Glad we’ve cleared that up! :-)
