Correct. A G fare is an Upper Class reward fare, paid for with miles + cash for the taxes / charges.

The only way of getting miles from a G fare is to pay for miles booster, which can work out quite a cheap way of getting a top-up on your miles.

Interesting...

I booked flights in September through flying club and asked for delight and upgrade with miles. However my booking shows G fair code :-O

Will give FC a ring tomorrow and see what’s happened

Yeah, that's expected. Miles upgrades go into G as well, only for upgrades you get the miles/tier points based on the fare class you were booked into originally (Economy delight in your case!)
