Are these still a thing? Had some amazing deals 3-4 years ago in UC usually originating in Dublin but the last couple of years I couldn’t seem to find any.

Has anybody had any joy more recently and if so how did you find them?

i have found this to be the case also, as i frequent mco quite often, and the fact that i am based in northern ireland, the ex dublin via lgw to mco was really good for a while, i found myself saving as much as 2-3k on upper flights, but i guess all good things come to and end, the last time i got a worthwhile deal ex dublin to mco must be getting on for two years ago.
on the upside though, i managed to get an upper return in early august from belfast international direct to mco for £1312 !!
and as i'm only fifteen minutes from from BFS it suits perfectly, only problem is virgin only operate from belfast in the summer months, and of course the lounge in BFS is definitely no lgw clubhouse but for that price i can live with that.

Brexit currency crash killed this, the euro prices are probably still reasonable once in a while, but not the bargain they used to be.

The one time I had a good price for one, Virgin bookings refused to book it because of someone confused. I checked on here to confirm they could book it, but the fare was gone by the time I got.

I'm still finding some reasonable ex-EU deals for the routes I look at when I want to fly. Not as good as before but still there.

But I'm finding that direct ex-LHR fares can be very reasonable at times especially in sales that make the faff of ex-EU not so worthwhile

I got a LCY-JFK-SFO-LHR in BAs January sale for approx £1600 which was way cheaper than trying to do it ex-EU (and hasn't been matched again). And again from my searching it appears that BA is discounting ex LHR more than ex-EU especially if you book ~6 months in advance.

I also agree that there are some pretty decent deals direct from LHR. I found a LHR>LAX return Z fare for March next year for ~£1600 the other week.

I used to do lots of ex DUB's, saved a fortune over the years. My latest adventure takes me east to Singapore, in Qatar A350 QSuites ex Stockholm. Paid £1280 per person return. (QSuites DOH-SIN-DOH, 789 standard J class ARN-DOH-ARN).

On identical dates the same ex LHR is an eye watering £5300 pp!!

Hmmn, ARN to SIN on QR.... Love QR, tempted to make this my TP run, with a flew BA flights to remake silver.

Never could face Bucharest hoping... Not when compared to a decent ARN/DOH/Wherever.

LPK92 wrote:Amazing QR deal! What’s the date range, if you don’t mind my asking. Thank You.

We're going either side of Easter next year, out on 2/4/20 back 16/4/20. Booked it around a month ago following an article on Head For Points. Out of interest I just took another look at current pricing - the same dates ex LHR still returns a price of £5300 per person. The cost ex ARN is still fantastic at £1720, but not as good as when we jumped on it last month!

EDIT - and yes it's Avios earning, nearly enough to gain Silver in one go if starting from zero!

Been a few ex INV deals on BA/AA.

Got £900 INV - LAX earlier in the year, got it to route via BA1 too!

I didn't see this fare, and pretty much been watching those boards daily foe years. I also got the feeling there were some fares which were not being made public too on FT, which an inner circle was keeping private and taking advantage of them...

So how did you get in on this?

I saw it posted in a Facebook group. It was a 24hr offer, so had to act quick!

Any chance of getting the name that facebook group? I get completely why people don't want to broadcast this to tens of thousands of people, but it would be nice to be in on a decent fare once in a while...

It's been a couple of years since I've found a decent fare which suited my holiday and destination constraints...

I too used to benefit a lot of ex-DUB/BRU/AMS UC fares. £1100 was my rough pricing for a number of years as it would cycle between BRU/AMS/DUB as the starting points. I lived really close to LTN so was a quick overnighter at an airport hotel :-)

However I moved to the US (California) a few years back and its even tougher to get a decent EC fare exUS under $1,000. UC can forget it. So much so that I'm tempted to get the wife and I on a single miles ticket back to LHR and then start a new exEU fare with a long return than I can rebook to a later date (6 months+ out). They seem to be coming out cheaper in the $2,300 mark.

Can you not try a non VS destination to start your ticket from? I understand there was a lot of cheap VS fares from San Diego?

BA have had random 24hr flash sales ex INV and AMS during the spring. Haven't seen much lately The Premium Fares thread on the BA FT board usually gives some clues (the QR ex ARN fares have been a hot topic as well).

I got a cracking VS marketed Z fare on KL BHX-AMS-YYC for £1278 over Christmas and New Year about 6 weeks ago, so check out flights from the regions too as there are some bargains to be had for travel 6 months or so out. I couldn't get anywhere near that price in the last BA sale from any of the usual exEU starting points.

Also if you need to get to SFO, check out TP from DUB via LIS. There's some silly prices out there for early next year with OTA's (~£1k in J) if you have flexible dates and fancy an overnight in LIS.
