Hi all

Can someone please explain how people manage with the twilight check in when they stay In an off airport hotel overnight before flight ?
They would want to check in suitcases at night but hold back other clothes and toiletries etc to use in the morning at hotel, but still take a bag full of toiletries etc away on holiday with them.

Also they would have to pay airport parking as all travellers need to be present at twilight check in

I cannot see this as being very worthwhile

In years past, before most people checked in online, it was worth it to avoid the long queues at check-in in the morning.

These days, with OLCI and the automatic kiosks, the queues are no longer such an issue so twilight check-in isn’t really necessary.

But I guess for families with kids, for whom departure day can be pretty hectic and stressful, it’s one less thing to have to cope with if they’ve already dumped the bags.

We always stayed the night before at the Holiday Inn Gatwick Airport as they kept cars on site and we were able to put our overnight bags in the car the next morning. They have now limited the number of cars they keep on site, so the other only other hotel that does this (as far as I know), is the Copthorne Hotel. We used to drop our bags off the night before and didn't have to pay much at all for parking because we used to get there around 8.00 pm and it was usually empty at Twilight check in.
