Hi - can someone advise me which class of AF reward flights are open to book with VS miles? Is it O or C or something else?

I assume that like most airlines a certain set of reward seats are prioritised for AF's elite Flying Blue members, then offered downstream from there.

(and are VS limited to booking codeshare flights?)
I'm Au if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Hi,

To my knowledge you cannot use VS miles to book tickets on AF at this time. The VS website states you can only earn miles and even that is specific to certain routes, not all AF routes. As an FYI too, VS Golds get no special benefits while flying on AF or KLM. Hopefully that changes soon but at the moment we don't get anything.

Actually VS Gold's do get some better treatment on AF. I've flown it a couple of times this year (2019 - about to be last year!) and been able to priority board and had free checked bags in basic economy, so... there are a few perks!
Of course this may have been a mistake by check in agent, but in that case the confusion is not only ours.

Surely if it's a codeshare flight, then you are able to book using VS miles on AF metal? Or am I simply misunderstanding the whole thang. I was looking at booking some AF BIZ flights to French West Africa, but it seems that is a long ways off.

Interesting because when I officially enquired about Gold perks on AF to Virgin they told me no, Golds get no special benefits at the moment. I wonder if it's the Delta system talking to AF and putting you in their "Sky Priority" bucket.

The flights do have to be codeshared per the VS partners website and AF listed the routes a few months ago, though they could have changed since then.
