Hello!

I currently have LHR-MIA and JFK-LHR reward flights booked towards the end of the year for 210,000 points upper class and £2k taxes.

I live in Geneva, CH and I have seen available GVA-CDG-MIA and BOS-CDG-GVA Business class reward seats available (called up to check availability) for 4,000 more points but 1,000 GBP cheaper in taxes.

Has anyone experienced AF flights in Business Class? And on Reward flights?

Tempted to cancel my current booking and re-book AF.

The connections between GVA-CDG and CDG-GVA are 4+ hours as I know CDG can be a pain.

Short haul service on AF has been amazing. I was even welcomed as a Sky Team elite (VS Gold) which I wasn’t expected given sometimes Virgins own FSMs don’t bother!

I’ve got my first long haul AF since 2010 next week on their A350-900, I’ll report back my experiences.

I’ve just stepped off my AF flight from ATL to CDG.

Notes:

A350-900 has no First Class (La Premiere).
Seat comfort is great! Really nice compared to the VS A350 disastrous product.
Crew were OK but not like VS. Took too long to get a drink. Food is served on a tray. But food itself was pretty decent.
Wasn’t woken for breakfast which I found very annoying. AF could learn from VS here with the use of the breakfast pre-order card.
No pyjamas offered in J (but you do get slippers).
Pillow and bedding was decent.

My only experience of ticketing flights like this was doing a relatively simply KLM short haul using VS points and it was painless, with the exception of the website being completely broken of course.

For a saving of £1000, I’d do the multi stop on AF.

hank you for letting me know.

In the end I did change to AF flights.

GVA_CDG-MIA (currently scheduled new A350)
EWR-CDG-GVA (again currently scheduled new A350)

Total cost (214,000 points as supposed to 210,000 direct flights LHR return with VS) and 1.065GBP taxes.

Saving over 1k of fees means an extra 1k spending money as prices in the States have increased considerably.

No Pjs is ok, plenty of VS pyjamas at home! I will pack a pair!
How was the “goody bag”? I’m looking forward to actually not seeing a recyclable cheap bag (no offence to VS) … VS should learn that ok to be environmental friendly but when you pay a premium you expect premium quality products

Goody bag was good. Really nice design. Similar size and contents to VS but actually premium.

Menu was lovely, big A4 printed menu. Only downside was it wasn't served three course style like VS, it was on a tray. But it was edible, unlike some of the VS Upper Class slop of late.

We did a return flight in May. NCL-MRU with points in business. Seat selection was paid for 6E & G. In Jan we were advised that the late morning flight was cancelled and rebooked on 0600 flight. Just that weekend. CDG departure was 1810. A long layover. The NCL-CDG was as expected for a short flight. The CDG-MRU was relaxing with F&B very good. We pre booked our meals A relaxing nights sleep. Entertainment system was fine but slept most of the journey after dinner. The return was during the day, service was excellent as was the food. We are planning another trip to MRU after a visit with grandkids to see The Mouse.
