We have 7 hrs to kill at Atlanta, connecting from Houston and travelling Upper to LHR the same day, take it Virgin use the Delta sky club there? Is it worth going into the City or just hang around the airport?

Thanks in advance

Cant remember what terminal it is, but I used the lounge at ATL when flying back in upper with VS last year. Sorry to say it was a horrendous experience. There were queues to get in. One for upper class/Delta first/golds etc. The other was for paid entry. Guess what they let more paid entries in than those in first etc. We watched them let over 30 paid guests in collecting the $50 each time on the credit card devices. In the same time 10 first/upper pax were let in.

When we and other travellers queried this we were rudely told it's up to us who we let in and when. We waited about 30 mins to get in, all we wanted was a quick freshen up grab a drink and go.

Eventually we were let in and only had 15 minutes before we had to leave and board.

The lounge was absolutely packed and nowhere to sit, we had to stand whilst we grabbed a quick bite and drink, food was average and not much was out.

A complaint to Delta did follow and acknowledgement from them that the staff were acting incorrectly as first/upper should be prioritised over paying guests. Apparently nothing to do with any commission the agents may or may not earn :-D

I wouldn’t leave the airport. Do a lounge crawl. You can technically use any of the DL lounges at ATL, some are moderately better than others. Only the international DL SkyClub in concourse F or the SkyClub in concourse E have showers though. I always head for the outdoor Skydeck area when using the international SkyClub especially if the weather is nice.

To waste a little bit more time and if accessibility isn’t an issue, rather than using the plane train, walk between each concourse. That’s a workout in itself!

I did the Delta Sky Club in concourse F last year and it was just awful. Spent no more than 10 minutes there and left I meant to mention it to the gate agent as I got on the plane. I think the issue is most flights leave between 5 and 7 so thats the busiest time. VS110 used to leave about 5 so it never used to be that bad. I might give it another go once we get the NEO’s on ATL full time it’’s just tricky because DL keep changing the domestic schedule for connecting flights. You book and you have a 2 hour connection window and check back 3 months later and you have only 45 minutes.

That is a nice walk through all the different scenes and as James says, wastes a bit of time with a nice leisurely stroll.

The lounges in F and E are a bit better than the others, and maybe B. But they are all insanely busy at times.

One trick I use: in the Delta app, if you go to More and then Sky Club, you can get live utilisation info on all the lounges and see which ones are less busy than others.

Hi,

Just wanted to clarify that you believe you can access any of the Delta Sky Club lounges at ATL when flying Upper Class with VA?

Their website mentions the one on Concourse F which I have read isn't great so wondered if anyone had any experience of accessing any of the other lounges.

Cheers
