Using reward voucher to replace points

I booked premium reward flights and upgraded to upper with points.
We are flying next week, in upper.
I now have a reward voucher that will expire in September 2025. My question is, could I contact VA and ask for the voucher to be credited to this upcoming flight and the points I used be refunded?
I won’t be able to use the voucher for flights as it will expire before we next travel.

yes i've done it several times, although you may need to ensure the agent understands as some aren't knowledgeable in this area. last time I asked to speak to a supervisor who did it as they agent didn't know how to.
