On the day change

I’ve a UC flight from Miami coming up. It’s a milage redemption on the later flight. Has anyone got any experience of being able to change on the day to the earlier flight at check in at all?

I have managed to do this in the past, even after check-in, at the JFK Clubhouse - they managed to move me onto one of the earlier flights even though I had checked luggage which was already tagged and scanned through from my connecting domestic Delta flight. They made a phone call and located my bag in the holding area and re-tagged it, then came to find me in the clubhouse to confirm. Obviously it's going to depend on availability though.

Super easy to do as long as there is a seat on the earlier flight. I've done this a lot (usually the other way around, earlier flight > later) albeit on hand baggage only.
