Can VS Gold's use LATAM lounges in South America?

We were recently returning from Sao Paulo (GRU) on a Delta flight to NYC, just regular economy, but the LATAM lounge denied entry to us as VS Gold flyers, because "Virgin is not a partner of Latam"

I'm pretty sure they are in some kind of reciprocal arrangement, but didn't want to make a scene. We simply went to a restaurant nearby. No worries, but I'd like to know for the future!

As far as I’m aware, LATAM are just a Flying Club earning/spend partner so there will be no lounge access agreements in place as they are not a SkyTeam member.

I know VS were talking about codesharing with LATAM at one point; but did that actually ever happen after VS postponed and then finally completely ditched plans to fly to GRU?
