Hi.

Hope all you guys are well.

Newbie here with a few tier point questions I am sure you knowledgeable guys will have the answers for.

My wife and I are currently sitting at 270 TPs for our current earning period, We have a reward flight booked in September outbound in UC and back in Prem...We will earn 100 TPs for the outbound taking us to 370 TPs each and then 50 TPs for the return in Prem...This would then trigger the Silver status however if I am correct the we would loose the spare 20 TPs as we only needed 30 to make Silver (I know the spare 20 are retained towards Gold in this earning period but I doubt we will achieve that).

First question is do you think its worth doing a 30 TP run on say KLM or AF to earn 30 TPs before go meaning that the outbound UC flight in September would trigger the SIlver status meaning then that 50 TPs we earn in Prem on the return flight would all count towards us retaining Silver the following year.

Second question, when booking flights on partner airlines websites do all the flights even the ones operated by other airlines award TPs or do the flights have to be marketed AND operated by the airline you book with, I found a flight to AMS then home via CDG to LHR on the KLM website however the return flight was operated be AF, would those flights give us TPs or not ?...I found a the same flight on the AF website too.

Or is there an easier way to earn the 30 TPs each or is it not worth it ?.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Gav.

AF give no Tier Points if it’s reward seats.
Also; not all fare codes with AF earn tier points. Do best to check with AF directly what fare code the ticker would be. Then use the table to know how many you’d earn.

For me personally, makes no sense really as you will get Silver status

For the second question, I believe it depends on the particular airlines. Have a look at the earning rules for the partner(s) on the VS website.

For example, I purchased a LATAM ticket for a LATAM codeshare flight which was actually operated by Delta... and got no points - even though LATAM and Delta are both earning partners.

And the LATAM earning rules on the VS website - which I did not read beforehand(!) - say:
Points may only be earned on flights operated by LATAM

Hi Again.

Hope everyone is well.

I have a another question regarding Tier Points and achieving Silver Status and retaining it.

I will be travelling in Premium on a return journey from JFK and will need 30 TPs to achieve silver status, I will earn 50 TPs on the that flight and If I am correct the spare 20 TPs will NOT count towards retaining silver for a further year as the new earning period will start the day after I achieve silver...Is that correct ?.

I am asking as a friend has a similar question, She will earn loads of TPs from a VA holiday booking, in the region of 560 TPs with the current 200 Bonus and the double tier points from the flights on the holiday booking, say she only needs 130 TPs to get to silver will the other TPs be wasted ?...I think the remaining points will still be valid in case she reaches gold in the current period though as will my spare TPs.

Any help much appreciated.

Kindest regards.

Gav.
