One Stop Security

I only just came across the new One Stop Security pilot programme currently being trialed in the US.

In short, if you’re travelling internationally and on a connecting flight, you won’t need to recheck your bags, and you can head straight to the gate area without going back through security.

For now, it’s only available on AA’s LHR–DFW and DL’s LHR–ATL routes.

I know a few folks here often use Atlanta as a connection point to get down to the Gulf, so this might be of interest.

I'm going to be giving this a go next month. Purposely booked the DL flight from LHR for it (I read VS intend to be included soon).
I'll go hand luggage only though - not sure if I have the guts to try the baggage

Well I've been through it now. I did need to take a checked bag with me in the end.
The Virgin staff at LHR insisted I'd need to pickup and recheck my bag in Atlanta. On board the Delta flight there was no mention of One Stop Security or anything about how to connect.

When the plane arrives in Terminal F it goes to a special gate which has the normal downstairs route for passengers ending their journey in Atlanta. Also you can seemingly only use One Stop Security if you have Global Entry or Mobile Passport Check (MPC).

I had done MPC on board the plane so got within 2 feet of the terminal but unfortunately I got turned away, the border person said I needed updated fingerprints, so I had to go down into the throng.

Once through, the baggage belt had plenty of people waiting. I asked the guy there if my bag would go through and he said you have to wait until the last one is off and if it didn't come out you can assume it went through. Thankfully a supervisor turned up about 10mins later to tell anyone connecting their bags would flow through and they should leave.

Because I had to go through the main hall I needed to clear security again which was an unpleasant scrum but once through the connecting train is right there to all concourses. it took roughly an hour gate to gate.

Overall then I'd say unless you have Global Entry don't trust it to get you through but I only saw myself and one other turned away. Not rechecking bags did save one of the faffs however. And yes my bag did make it through. It does seem however all a bit unclear.

That actually sounds like a solid time-saver if they can get it working properly. Re-clearing security in ATL is always chaos.
