Global Entry

My wife and I have had Global Entry since 2018 and renewed in 2023. We have entered the USA numerous times without a problem until this week. Last Tuesday we flew on VS109 from Man to Atl and then onward to Fort Myers. Before checking in I checked on the VS website that all our personal details, including GE, and all were correct.

On arrival at Atl we went to the machine and had our pictures taken and went to the Border Agent as usual. He immediately stated ' you are in the wrong queue you don't have Global Entry'. I explained we had since 2018 but he was adamant that we didn't. My wife showed him our Boarding Cards showing TSAprecheck to which he said that's not GE. I then offered to show him the documentation which I always carry but instead he took our passports and put them in his machine. His attitude changed immediately and he was very apologetic saying 'oh you do have Global Entry you may carry on'.

My question is does the Boarding Card show the Global Entry number or just TSAprecheck. I can't remember from last visit. I also checked the VS website subsequently and all the details are there and correct. I also wonder if anybody else has had a similar problem.

Same thing happened to me on arrival at MCO last October. My wife was fine, we've both had GE since 2017ish. Eventually agreed I did have GE, and he seemed confused as to why his system said I was not in GE.

Then on arrival last week again at MCO, more or less the same thing happened again!

The GE number is not on boarding passes, never has been. I always check it is on the booking, because sometimes with VS they miss it off.

Your KTN (Known Traveller Number) which is also your GE number has never been on your boarding pass. You likely entered it on your ESTA application, so it should be "in the system there". Also when you do check-in, be it online or at the airport, ensure it is present there & if not, re-enter it or ask the agent to do this for you.

I've never had my GE not be on the system (yet), but I will be doubly careful when I check in for my March flight.

Found it to be hit and miss, my first two years no problems, get a new passport and then i had 2 years of face scanning then having to go into the queue to have my passport checked and stamped, then randomly my last trip last month I was let straight though again.

VS have an annoying habit of loosing your KTN from your Flying Club profile.

It's dropped off several times for me in the past. I always make sure it's there and saved in my profile and in my bookings before I fly using the full desktop website.

Once logged into your FC account, click Account Overview, then Manage Account then Personal Info then click the Secure Flight Info link at the bottom where then then have to log in again (using the old surfer page screen) then you should see your KTN in the second box down.

Also check your bookings too as if you have made bookings when the KTN was missing from your profile, it wont go through to any bookings. In your bookings, expand the Show Details then click Change Passenger Details then click View Details in the Basic & Secure Flight section. Complete that section if it's empty.

The Flying Club website is still very dis-jointed and still using old log-on screens for secure flight info (and FlyReady)

Another thing to check and be careful of is when you have an onward connecting flight. I've had situations where my KTN number was on the VS booking, however, that didn't get pulled through to the DL flight part of the booking (even though both flight were on the same PNR) so my TSA-Pre number was only on 1 of the 2 boarding passes (the VS one and not the DL one).

The way to go though is Clear+. Having used that now several times, it's way way better than TSA-Pre. I can't recommend Clear+ enough!

Yes VS often drops the GE Known Traveller (KT) number off bookings, so I always ensure at check-in that it's on there for all pax. (my family all have it) Just be sure it is Global Entry KT number, not an old TSA Pre #

and James, yes Clear + is very good, had it for a year, but dropped it as far too expensive compared to GE. It also has very limited roll out - they focus more of sports stadiums etc, from what I can tell, and of no use at all on international arrival (right?). If you can use the Delta/VS dedicated security channel in NYC, then Clear+ is pointless.

We LOVE Global Entry, and are often all through US immigration in about 60secs flat!
