LAX clubhouse

Currently at LAX and got a 2 hour delay on VS142.

Just been to new clubhouse and I’m sorry but doesn’t work for me. No windows, small and cramped, ok for a short stop but if stuck for few hours the Delta One lounge, which can still access, is a better option by far.

Service in Delta One been superb, freshly made sushi, plenty seats, view of runway. Only downside is a good 15 minute walk to the gate but worth it for better lounge experience.

I was connecting on a different PNR from Delta and annoyingly as I had been in Vegas for a week had a checked bag. I arrived LA at 0730 and was leaving on the VS8 at 3.30. I was expecting a few boring hours sat landslide in Starbucks but lo and behold this was not to be!

I took my checked bag around to the new DL One private check in area kind of expecting to be told "No you're Virgin bugger off" but they logged into the VS system and had me checked in and ready to go through security in minutes.

The experience is even more private than at JFK, once you are screened through TSA, you are straight in an elevator into the DL One Lounge. The lounge is probably about 1/3rd of the size of the JFK one, and about 3 times larger than the Boston one. A great assortment of cocktails to be had, including one which was very close to a redhead. Sadly uploading photos on here is a pain in the bum, but I'll try and find a way! The main showers are in the main Delta SkyClub which you are escorted through to.

After 3 hours there and a little bit of work, I left rather tipsy after trying all of their signature cocktails, and proceeded round to TBIT to take in the new Clubhouse.

I must admit, that I didnt find the walk between T3 and TBIT as long as I remembered last time I was in LA, have they installed more moving walkways as it was only a few minutes.

In the new CH was reunited with one of the former VS supervisors who I met on a few trips to LA back pre-covid and is now working for Sodexo as their GM For the Clubhouse. Lovely Aussie guy, if you see him say hello! The Clubhouse itself, is small, I was actually surprised just how small it is, but is perfectly formed. It didn't feel busy ahead of what was a full Upper Class cabin on the VS8. I must admit to having one too many Drama Queens (their signature cocktail) so if I was tipsy on leaving DL one, I was steaming on leaving the Clubhouse! (Also, yes, I did colour coordinate for the picture)

Boarding from gate 133 was prompt and I knew I was in for a good flight!

So I’ve got 3 hours at LAX in December flying back to LHR in upper - I’m hoping I’ll also still be gold (but not for much longer ) - what’s the best option for lounges, the way I read this the VS one isn’t great, is there access to Delta? Is it better?

I thought the space was OK actually. It’s very new and very Virgin. Granted, no natural light like the old CH in T2 but still a nice place to spend a few hours.

Flying Upper you could use Delta One and the Delta lounge but I haven’t tried using that lounge since the CH opened, maybe you can still use it with some arm twisting. The offering is different in there but I can totally see them directing you to the CH.

I didn’t find the service in the LAX Delta One lounge very good yesterday, especially not in the outdoor area as I placed 2 separate food orders and neither turned up. On several occasions asked for a drink and again nothing turned up. They would be better offering the WR self-service order system as well.

It’s a strange set-up with the showers as well as you are escorted into the SkyClub section to use the showers (once you have booked it in the Delta One lounge).

I’m currently sat in the LAX Delta One lounge (flying UC on VS24) and the service is excellent, definitely even a step up from the LHR Clubhouse. We checked in at the Delta One check in lounge at Terminal 3 where we handed over our passports before being invited to sit in their lounge area while they did the paperwork.

It was then straight through the dedicated TSA security and up the lift to the lounge where we have a dedicated waiter who is incredibly attentive. The lady at the entrance welcomed us in without requiring to see our boarding passes. As it’s our first time in the lounge, she handed us a card detailing the facilities.

The Steak Frites and the Lamb Bolognese are amazing and the food and drink selection as a whole is great. The lounge is quiet and relaxing and there’s plenty of staff available to help you with anything. If you want a shower they escort you to the shower rooms in the adjoining Sky Club where they have cubicles set aside.

It certainly lives up to the hype I’ve read about the lounge online. We’ll soon head over to the CH to see what that’s like before the flight.

I did both lounges when I flew home from LAX in February. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk between the 2 lounges.

When in the Delta One lounge, I still find it a faff to go through to the SkyClub next door to use the showers plus I’m still not impressed with the table service there. Used it twice now and both times service has been slow.

The service in the VS Clubhouse was fantastic. It’s a nice albeit small lounge.

Shame the same couldn’t be said about the VS flight home.

. I was looking for somewhere to nap. The Club House needs more sockets for UK plugs.

The CH was ok. It’s a nice, if quite small, space. Service was good. It just didn’t feel up the same level of quality as the Delta One lounge (nor did we experience any slow service in either lounge).

I must also praise the excellent crew on our flight home. They gave exactly the high level of service that made Virgin famous. Everyone from the FSM down was hard working and smiling throughout.
