Currently on VS73 to MCO in Upper, so passed through the new Executive Lounge in MAN T2 this morning. I have to say, I was impressed.

The lounge has only been open a week so everything is in very good condition as you would expect. There seemed to be an abundance of staff too. You get greeted at the entrance by a staff member who takes you the 5metres to the reception desk. Greeted again there by another staff member, then when you enter the lounge you are greeted again by a staff member who explains the areas of the lounge. As I was in Virgin Upper I had been given an invite card to use the table-service dining area. I declined this as was happy with the hot breakfast buffet and a seat near the window.

The breakfast buffet is excellent – way more extensive than the 1903. There was also an extensive selection of pastries, breads, cold fruit, charcuterie, cheese, cereals etc. There is no free-pour alcohol in this lounge, it’s a full service bar.

The lounge is still “work in progress” as all the seats by the windows had USB-C ports on them, but none were working, despite there being an AC power cord from the seats going into a socket in the floor. If you want a normal AC wall socket to use, you need to sit further back or mess with a connection to the floor sockets. Whilst I was in the lounge, a small part of it was closed off to contractors could fit some soft furnishings to the walls.

This lounge is definitely a huge improvement on the 1903 & actually a worthy business class lounge. It certainly takes the top-spot at MAN for now – until the Emirates Lounge opens this month… Emirates have a much bigger cheque book than MAN.

Does anyone know what the space the Executive Lounge uses in T2 was before? It’s on the LHS in the corridor before you get to the escape Lounge. It’s quite sizeable too, I’d say close on 3x the size of what 1903 was.

Glad to hear your visit to the new lounge was positive. I've seen a few pics online already taken by pax passing though and it does look good I have to say.

That space was never actually used as it was originally planned to be the VS Clubhouse. At one point not long after that new T2 section opened either VS or MAG even posted a map which actually labeled that space as the Virgin lounge.

If Virgin were going to use all the space the Executive Lounge uses for the Clubhouse, their pre-pandemic expansion plans for Manchester must have been quite significant.
