Sleeper Suits

(that's "suits" and not "suites" ).

Our trip this Summer is UCS out and J2000 return (ok, not ideal, but that was what the availability of the super cheapy tickets was...).

I believe that if you fly in the UCS, you get a new sleeper suit (black?). So I have three questions:
1. Are Virgin handing out the new suits on the J2000 planes too? (or will I get a grey and purple one?)?
2. Since the suites probably encourage sleeping more (even on daytime flights), do Virgin tend to have sleeper suits available to passengers on daytime flights? Will take my own pjs anyway, but wouldn't mind the opportunity to pick one up...
3. What sizes do the new sleeper suits come in? Any better than the old ones? Being petite (5'3", British size 10), I tend to look like a kid in her parents clothes... Any suggestion on what size to go for?

Hi Boo,

I've only ever been given a sleep suit on the night flights. Can't remember if I ever asked for them on a day flight, or whether the new UCS encourages more people to get their head down on a day flight and therefore handed out - I've only ever done UCS on the night flights.

The new sleep suits are a better fit. Understand totally what you mean about the old sizes (I too used to wander around the cabin with the hems of the trouser bottoms trailing behind me). The new ones are still a bit generous, but not as bad as before.

With regard to the availability of sleep suits on day flights, I think they are given out on request. On a recent day time flight one person in the section I was in asked for and was given one.

The sleepsuits will not be available on day flights, they are on overnight flights only.

They are stowed away for Day flights.

On my recent VS19 day flight to SFO in UCS sleeper suits were handed out on request, as several paxs got their heads down for a few hours.

Its not the norm for this to happen, but then every flight and crew is different.

Now I wonder if they were short a few suits on the way back

keep an eye on the street, you may see celebrities walking around in them as if they are the latest fashion.

Sleep suits are avaliable on request only on all UCS day flights, however only one bag is loaded in the cabin so the crew will give them out if asked, there simple is not enough for everyone.

The Sleep suits for the return night flight are loaded in the hold on the O/b and are bought to the cabin by the cleaners during the turnaround.

How does this work for those of us who travel to the east of the UK (i.e. Japan, China). Since the outbound flight was the night flight, are there Sleep suits loaded specifically for the return day flight?

LHR-HKG-LHR you get the sleep suits both ways, I have just binned a load of old suits cluttering up the wardrobe i think they must have bred.

Funny you say that the HKG-LHR flight is a day flight. I've always regarded it as a night flight as it takes off 2325 HKG time and lands 0525 LHR time.

Hi there,

My comment was based on Tokyo times, NRT-LHR takes off at 11:00 local time. I assumed HKG would be similar times, I guess it was a bad assumption.

do they do the suits in kids sizes ?

do they do them in very large sizes

can you take them away with you after you have used them ?

2. I once got a large one, and been 6' 4" I was lost in mine for a few hours. I think the size relates more to the inside leg measurement and arm length

3. Good question - I've seen paxs walk off the a/c with their unopened J2000 sleeper suits without any problem and you do often see them on eBay. Mind you some people will take anything that's not screwed down.

I was not asked to return the sleep suit, and had read other people took them, so I took mine home with no problems!

I'm a larger than average 5"10, and fitted into the medium sized suit just right!

dont know about the kid sizes though.

I have yet to find anything other than large (relative to me) size... (I walk around in them with the trousser leg and the sleave cuffs dragging along the floor....).

I have taken two or three in my time. Due to their size, they aren't hugely practical, but they are so soft and snuggly that they are nice to wear if I feel ill (wrapped in a duvet, on the sofa...).

Well I'm 6ft and 168lbs and I fit into a medium. I've just got back from a conference in the US where one of the vendors was giving away Polo Shirts in L, XXL, XXXL and XXXXL! And the recipients (prize draw) all fitted them! As I've only ever seen S, M and L on board I guess we'd need a staffer to clarify!

Good question though on walking away. Could a VS staffer indicate what intention is from VS. Are we meant to keep them or should I now be feeling guilty [:I].

Well, I can tell you that a large fit me perfectly well, and I'm 6ft 2" with ummmm, *lots* of lbs (250+) [:I]

I took mine away too, don't think there's a problem with that

On a flight last year I asked about keeping the sleep suits
I was told that I can;)

maybe the FA was just being nice to me!!

Surely the intention must be that you can kep them if you want to; if you've paid 3,000GBP for a flight you wouldn't want a second-hand sleep-suit would you?
