It is rumoured that a new lounge is being constructed for VS above T2 duty free. Work starting in 2 weeks but not sure if it's a V-room or CH.

About time that VS recognised the continued strong support of MAN customers.

Fingers crossed, imagine a V-Room style lounge would make most sense, especially with some dates next year having no UC on MCO flights.

It's possible, with a purpose designed area, they could have both V-Room and CH, sharing some facilities.

MAN-MCO flights have always been busy in UC and the lack of a CH while paying the same ticket price has always been a sore point c/w LGW. Also there are new routes starting from MAN ...

MCO would be an obvious candidate for CH but problems with finding space.

would make sense - a more private CH area but with common bar / kitchen / services area etc

Indeed, there are two possible ways that VS will get a lounge at MCO. Firstly Delta move out of Airside 4, this is highly unlikely given the amount of traffic they have through there (ok not quite at mid 1990s level but still) or secondly a whole new international airside is built (pre 9/11 there was large talk about a second terminal being built south towards Boggy Creek (next to the current fire station) and the land is already cleared).

The new international airside is now unlikely so really the only way would be for DL to vacate which will not happen.

Of course with the large increase in international traffic at MCO using Airside 4 (VS, BA, LH, JJ, AF and talk of KLM) there is quite strong weight for an additional lounge on airside 4 (I would imagine it can get very crowded around 5pm with the international rush and the early evening DL flights) however short of an extension being put on 4 there is no way of it happening.

Hmmm, over and above the Vegas route ?|

This is great news, it's about time MAN gained some VS attention. Things like this are greatly needed to entice "us Northern folk" to keep flying the VS flag. For instance- why push for Gold, there's no lounge to use, limited flights out of MAN and an absolute nightmare getting sensible connections to LHR..We can fly to East cost through the competition, even beyond..Lost trade that could otherwise be turnover for VS..
OK may not get the J traffic seen at LHR, however VS are aware of the pull of PE and a smaller UC cabin (just try and find reward seats!)

A VS lounge in any shape or form, and some routing to East coast would make NH a happy chap y)

If this is true, then as others have said, it's great news for us VS pax who use MAN. Nice to see a UK airline giving some development (apart from flights) to a UK airport outside London.

Sounds like some positive news for us MAN pax. A v-room will be a great improvement on the current offering of the totally impersonal Escape Lounge. y) Just a shame that the proposed opening date is June - a couple of weeks AFTER me and the present Mrs Treelo fly out n(

I agree that any northern expansion is good news.

I know we are only speculating at the moment, but I sincerely hope that the new lounge isn't just a V-room for VH customers.

It will be strange if a person travelling in Y on a VH package on their first VS flight can use the new, state of the art lounge; and a gold card holder paying full fare J is confined to the Escape Lounge. :D ;)

y) Totally agree, even with some of the flights not having Upper on them, there must be some provision for Gold/Upper flyers without dumping them in the escape lounge.

The Escape lounge at MAN is actually no worse than some of the non-VS lounges state-side.

VH are making an official announcement next week about the new V-Room.

That is good news.

There has to be a large amount of weight for an elusive J room with the V Room for those traveling on UCS.

One of the reasons that W is overbooked even more than J on the MAN flights is the lack of CH.
What incentive is there to pay so much more for J?
As has been said on another thread it is much easier to get reward flights on the outward trip.

The odd configuration 333s may not be around for long.

There is clearly sufficient need for 2 daily 747 flights from MAN for much of the year. This will only increase with the opening of another 100 VH outlets mainly in the North.

So, if VS are actually thinking ahead for a change ): , we need a CH facility as well as a V-Room.

Bill, while I admire your sentiment, can you really see this happening for a couple of flights a day? ii)

Dosen't have to be a full CH - could just be a seperate room offering peace and quiet? Both areas could share staff, bar and kitchen facilites. Could be difefrent menu / bar items in the CH side.

If they cannot get LHR slots then it makes sense.

Much lower costs both parking & operating out of MAN.

If they can attract the pax numbers (and they could even during the recession) then they can expand the northern business particularly with the additional VH outlets.

Just wish they'd run a weekly NCL/MCO. 8D

If they were to develop services out of MAN, I think I would seriously consider using it depending on the destinations

Oh yes! I live under the flight path , as they start descending, for NCL and I'd just love to see some VS livery up there!
