UC LGW to LAS

Hey.

I'm looking to go to las Vegas for 8-10 days at end of August/beginning September and wanted to book upper class. For the 8 days im getting prices around £5,500 mark. Is this normal or can I get it down some how? This is the flight and hotel? Any help would be appreciated!

I have always found LAS very expensive for UC.
Lots of people go for conferences, Expo's etc so the company is paying. Then you have the fights which bring extra people in.
I would normally check what is going on in the city first and then plan my dates around that (if you can). You may also start to get in to a situation where they may not be any UC seats on one of the new two class aircraft :0

Looking at the fare finder on here, there seem to be 3 days in August and a couple in September where the UC fare is over £5k.

Most days, though it's in the £3.5-4k range which is about normal for the Vegas route.

Remember there are only 14 seats in UC on the LGW 747s and it's a very popular route so the cheapest UC fares can sell out easily.

You won't want to know that you could have got them for £1700 in the UC sale a month or so ago. A couple of my friends are going at the end of Aug and got them for that - sadly I can't go due to work commitments

Also, you are leaving it quite late now, the cheaper fare codes so have advance purchase restrictions so you don't want to be leaving to much longer for this year.

Plus as the others have said, with so few seats and UC on Vegas being popular as both a business and leisure route, the seats do sell out quickly.

So will I only Find fares now for over 5k? No chance in getting a. 4.5k flight haha and no way £1700 thats well good! Trust me to leave it so late

And ... many fly through LAX or SFO and connect for more options. Connections can be cheap, some around $100.

I was looking on virgin holidays as it included the hotel to. And I did take a look on VA and it said £2,085 per person? Or 15,000 per person? So I assumed it would have been over 4,000.

If I'm wrong please tell me as I will be booking straight away of its £2,085 for 2 people! I saw the hotels for under £500 which I wouldn't mind doing.

The £2085 is per person, and is a good UC rate for LAS to be honest, absolute best in recent times has been £1700 in the sale for very recent flights in a not so peak period, you will never find flights at just over 2k for 2 people.

Yeah sorry I may have forgot to say it was for two people. I did that on VA and it was £7,000 but on VH it's £5,000ish flying UC. Should I consider booking with VH instead.?

Well it depends I guess. If you can fly on the dates the flights direct with VS are £2085, that = £4170 and then if you can book the hotel direct for under £500 it is a saving over the VH price.

If you can only fly on dates when VS are more expensive then I guess booking through VH seems the sensible thing to do.

The other option as already mentioned is to look at flying in to LAX or SFO and getting a cheap connection to LAS with someone like VX or WN, as with booking your hotel direct it could still work out cheaper.

So the initial £2085 was a return from Las? If so I will book that way and get the hotel from VH for cheap and I agree it would still be a saving. I would prefer flying direct as its easier for me.

I've looked and I can get the flights for £4116 through VA and on VH I can get a hotel for £300 which makes it £4416 way better then paying 5k

Also I would want to hire a car? Could I do this at the airport or online?

Never stayed at circus circus - a bit out the way for my liking. Planet Hollywood is always a laugh, and there are some pretty good room only deals at the cosmo and the aria these days that may be worth a look.. not sure they will beat £300 for an 8 night stay!!

Really easy to get a taxi at the airport, although there are transfer buses that do a sort of loop around the hotels. If you are going to book with VH then I would ask them, failing that a message off to your chosen hotel's concierge would answer which bus you would need to hop on and how you can prebook.

Shopping on the strip.... yep plenty. Main places are the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and the Fashion Show Mall opposite the Wynn/Encore. There is also the donut shaped shopping mall built into Planet Hollywood and tbh most of the hotels/casinos have boutiques and places to spend all that hard won money. Sneaky that.

Hope you enjoy your trip y) - will be vegas bound myself in mid/late september - flying through SFO though.

Circus Circus is on the strip but right at the top end and quite far away from anywhere you might want to go. It's definitely "cheap and cheerful" - and more family-oriented than most LAS hotels so if you're not a fan of kids then I'd avoid it.

If that's the price range you're after it's worth looking at the Excalibur or the Luxor - both towards the bottom of the strip (the airport end). You'll feel much more like you're part of the action than at Circus Circus. Also worth looking at New York New York, and some people swear blind by Imperial Palace which is about as central as it gets but quite old.

Like everywhere you get what you pay for in Vegas but it's fair to say even the cheaper hotels on the strip offer far better value than anything you'd get in the UK. But many will charge more for a strip view or nicer room - the cheapest rooms will invariably overlook the car park and be a 15 minute walk from the strip.

As others have said you really don't need a car in LAS - the traffic on the strip is ateocious and the hotels so huge it's nearly always quicker to walk. There's also a monorail running up and down the east side of the strip, and "The Deuce" buses which run up and down the strip 24/7.

Your other option if you want to save money on hotels is to stay at one of the old casinos "downtown". It's about half an hour on the bus from the strip and lacks the "glamour" (or tackiness, whichever way you look at it) - but it's certainly cheaper.

Fully agree, as gumshoe says above too the transport is good up and down the strip and the monorails do cover pretty much the entire length of it from the sahara all the way to the mandaly at the other end - There are 3 in total, 2 free ones (Mandalay Bay - Excalibur, Monte Carlo - Bellagio) and a fare one (Sahara - MGM Grand) - not too pricey though. Will be much cheaper than a hire car and the subsequent parking and valet costs.

There are also two outlet malls in Las Vegas which are not on the strip but there is a bus service from the Strip to them. Some great bargains are to be had there
