I just received mine and I am unable to change the PIN, have rung Virgin 3 times now on this when they "unlock" it for me each time but it does not work. They are sending me a new Amex card but I was wondering if anyone else had had the same issue with Amex. The other odd thing they said to me is that you have to change Amex one before you change the Visa one.

Just thought I'd see if anyone else had issues with the Amex PIN change.

Oddly I had issues changing my PIN at my local Tesco cashpoint. It would only work in Barclays - some distance from us. Try a mainstream branch, if you haven't already.

I have tried Santander, and Tescos - I think it was an RBS machine at Tescos. Hopefully the new one they are sending will play nicely.

Got a new card, same issue. Apparently there has been a change to the system with the Amex cards and they are not liking a re-use of new numbers, nor a PIN combo that people might guess. Mine is certainly the former. They do not know if this is by design or a bug as Amex has not replied. But they have no estimate as to when this will be fixed or if it will be fixed. Was I being spun a line? Who knows....

Nope none at all, then again I first got mine when there was not a VISA attached to the account. Doubt that would be a problem, but it was a simple case of activating the card and heading the cashpoint for me.

Try heading along to a Barclays or Natwest to see if that works.... it may simply be the ATMs - their excuses seem a tad off to me.

As you say, who knows :P

Well, despite an issue which I rectified with my first card, the new Amex card doesn't want to play.

Have changed the PIN on my Visa without issue. But the Black Amex isn't having any of it.

Rang Virgin just now to be told the same. It's an issue they are aware about and the Amex PIN cannot be changed. However, they did say the problem had only been noticed 2 days ago and should be fixed imminently! v(

Hey, am new here. Just started collecting V miles. Stumbled on this forum when I googled that I wasn't able to change the pin of my VA amex card. I have both Black and White. Changed the pin on both VISAs but can't change the pin on both AMEXs. Tried RBS, Lloyds and Nationwide ATMs. Am getting on the phone to mbna now!

Same here, I cannot change the PIN on the black Amex but can on the Visa. It's been a month but I still type the wrong PIN for the Amex when I use it in a shop and need a second attempt :(.

I tried to change it again today. Nothing doing, in various different banks' machines.

And to add insult to injury, because I wasn't paying the attention I should have been, cough, alcohol, cough, I used the AEMX pin for the Visa - and managed to lock the Visa card ! And just had to talk to them to get it refreshed. I do hate that recording that you have to fight your way past.

I rang again, oddly it's the first they have heard of it. That is of course, despite MY first call and the report of others.

Sigh.

Just had a text from MBNA to say the issue with changing the AMEX PIN has now been resolved.

Will try and change it this afternoon so will see what happens.
