Have just been fishing round for cheap flights to MCO via eBookers & some interesting AF Codeshares came up.

Exactly the same VS flights, operated by VS metal, but £500 cheaper pp than the Virgin / Delta fare (for Upper Class). Needless to say, I booked.

If you try and logon to your booking on the VS website, everything is greyed out & it only sees it as an Economy booking. Go to the Air France website and you can see everything / select your Upper Class seat, which has been done.

Florida in early November - has to be done. See you there Mr Buns!

The AF/KLM codeshares were supposed to go live next week.. clearly AF have been loading them early ;-)

Top result Kraken, I’m going to have a bit of a look at the fares for any deals myself. Cheers for the heads up.

Clearly AF have loaded an inventory of "mistake fares". Book them while you can!

Looks like AF/KLM airports are loaded to the VS website (CDG for example), just not the actual flights yet. Guess that will done shortly.

I’m a bit confused as to what flights you can earn miles on.

Re KLM, the main text says “As a Flying Club member you can earn on all KLM operated and marketed services” but the small print says “This is only applicable to Codeshare services that are marketed by Virgin Atlantic and operated by KLM. Miles may only be earned on flights operated by KLM which is marketed under a Virgin Atlantic flight number.”

These seem on the face of it contradictory.

I agree adj. I suspect a copy and paste goof from the Delta page. If I was to place a bet it would be only codeshare routes can earn as it's clearer on the AF section.

I imagine it will be ironed out in time. At first I'm a little disappointed that the codeshare is not more extensive, I was hoping for ways to get to Asia or DXB still. Perhaps it will be fleshed out a bit more.

It's ramping in over the rest of the year... more are to come, as/when they get regulatory approval. "Please hold"

Are VS Au cards now entitled to some modest benefits on AF - like advanced boarding, or a free checked bag when in Basic Economy, mayhaps?

Some mad process available via AF, LGW-MCO April 2019 (after the Easter break)

VS - PE £900 ish
AF - PE £600
VS - UC £2300 ish
AF- UC £1320

Same flights direct on the codeshare. On some dates the AF PE price is the same or slightly cheaper than the VS Y price !

Leave request gone in to day at work just waiting confirmation to book UC to MCO. Am waiting for the HKG flights to be loaded, currently only offering on AF metal via CDG, but still good prices.

Even with the cost of positioning flights etc the savings look to be well worthwhile

Am struggling to find these prices on airfrance.com. Are these fares not one way ?

Now confirmed by AIr France-KLM along with which VS flights are being codeshared and vice versa...

https://www.airfranceklm.com/en/virgin- ... artnership

In short, for VS-operated flights it's all the MAN routes except BGI, all the US LHR routes and LGW/BFS/GLA-MCO. None of the Caribbean/African/Far East routes feature.

On AF/KL flights, it looks like there's also some Canadian destinations in the mix along Cancun and Mexico City. The UK regions-CDG/AMS flights are also included.

Lots of miles earning opportunities there and some good deals in particular and more to come once Flybe becomes more integrated and their network optimised to better connect with LHR/MAN.

Whilst I wholly welcome this move, I do have grave concerns that if AF&KLM co-locate in LHR the Clubhouse wont cope with it!

It will be interesting to see what new lounges we might as VS AUs get access to! Not sure what AF are like?

Almost no Biz lounges come close to the VS one - it's one of a kind. Let's hope it doesn't get swamped.

AF ones are better than the USA ones , but that's not saying much (Yes, I'm looking at you Delta, American, United - yours are rubbish)

I've also done BA Concorde lounge on long haul 1st, and honestly prefer the VS offering.

At LHR AF & KL use the SkyTeam lounge in T4. Headforpoints reviewed it last month and weren’t overly impressed but IMHO while it’s no Clubhouse it’s considerably nicer than anything BA offers bar the Concorde Room.

Earning miles on some routes to Canada is welcome; we do a trip there every couple of years for work and it's been frustrating to have no real options to earn points towards our VS Au when we travel there. I'm disappointed, though, that so far it's transatlantic routes only. I feel like for us VS has that pretty well covered. I'm really hoping some Far East codeshares will come up soon, too. Although I have to say, we've been delighted with the SAS business class prices (and product) for our trips to Tokyo. If only the miles would credit automatically instead of having to chase them up each time (despite our FC numbers being input and showing our cards at check-in).

So my company has just booked me onto a KLM flight between MAN and SFO via AMS which qualifies for Virgin points - however when I log on to the KLM site to view the booking there's no option for a V-Flyer number.

Is it looking like I'll miss out because it was not booked as a Virgin ticket?

A V-Flyer number? Ahh if only we had numbers so VS knew to pull out all the stops for us :-P

The flights in question would need to have a VS codeshare number to earn miles, if this is the case then you'll probably need to give KLM a call to add your VS FC number to the booking.

I am not sure it is possible to do this using the MMB portal after the booking has been made I am afraid to say.

Please do let us know how you get on.

So, after an unsuccessful conversation with KLM's customer Service on Facebook Messenger (one of their recommended contact methods) who basically said you had to earn flying Blue points or that I had to contact Virgin to do it I noticed that as of a couple of hours ago there is now the ability to add a Flying Club number to a KLM booking on the "Manage My Trip" functionality on the KLM website.

Unlike the the other options in the drop it's simply listed as Flying Club instead of Flying Club (Virgin Atlantic) but it did accept my number so I guess we'll see if the points get credited.

For anyone else who finds this thread when I entered my number and clicked "Save" it did log a message saying "Hmm this is taking longer than expected, please contact KLM Customer Services" - however 5 minutes later the number is visible against my booking so I think it has worked.

I guess I'll see in a few weeks if the points actually credit...

pryonic did you get Flying Club miles on the KLM flight? I have a business trip to Tokyo and I am debating if its worth the risk of trying my number on a non code-shared flight. The ANA flight only get 75 TPs

I've ended up booking under the AF codes for a trip to Tampa in May, as it was around £1500 cheaper than the VS equivalents for my dates. The booking was through Expedia (eeek).

My route is LHR-JFK-TPA (VS/DL on AF codes) and TPA-ATL-LHR (DL/VS on AF codes) in Upper & domestic First Class.

What I can't work out is whether I'll have Clubhouse/SkyClub access in JFK on the outbound, or SkyClub access in Tampa on the return. I know domestic First Class doesn't grant access, but does the fact my itinerary includes TATL travel on Virgin Atlantic any bearing? Or does it qualify under a SkyTeam itinerary as its on AF codes?

I'm very baffled!
