I really hope the 744s don't go soon. VS at least needs something with an upper deck;)

VS.

The 747-400s will be around for quite a while yet...well until at least the A380s get delivered. I could probably see the earlier build 747-400s leaving the fleet first though.

Not really too bothered by the aircraft itself but this is in the paper here this am.

I personally like the stopover - get out and walk around for a bit.

No NIck it is a good subject to keep going and this thread will probably run for a few years as we wait for delivery.

As an aside I had dinner last evening with a friend who is also one of the suppliers of parts for Boeing. The talk turned to the 787 and he said that the aircraft is a "dream" airplane: it's fuel efficient, comes complete with all of today's gadgets.

My friend enjoyed his first flight on UCS recently when he was enroute to the Paris air show. Loved the experience.

Must admit she looked even better with the Boeing Corporate Colours now on her side.

Adding to EWR's comments:

VS as well as converting the 8 options have now confirmed today a new tender for the replacement of the 13 747's. Both Airbus and Boeing have been invited to bid. Airbus with either 350WBX/380 mix or Boeing with 748s.

Will be interesting to see what happens- I dont believe VS would go for additional 380's especially given the delays. It would be a real kick in the teeth for Airbus if VS went with the 748 and equally big result for Boeing as the pax version of the 748 has hardly been selling well at all.
