Nothing to see here.

Well it must be another link doing the rounds. It has appeared on lots of blogs across the Internet in the past few days

As mentioned before, several companies and organisations offer an instant silver upgrade to their staff and members as a corporate perk. My employer does.

So it's inevitable that some of the links will end up being shared online, despite being meant to be private.

However VS are clearly wise to this and revoking AG memberships where appropriate.

It must be fairly obvious when a link that gets maybe a dozen hits a day suddenly gets a thousand.

So the upshot is - if you find a link that works and try it, fine but don't be surprised if your new AG status ends up being revoked. And never forget that VS would be perfectly within their rights to cancel your FC membership altogether and take away your miles and TPs, without notice or reason.

I still haven't heard or read of any members FC status being downgraded back to a lower level, from these recent promotions or any ones in the past.

As mentioned already in this thread, it is quite possible Virgin are happy and maybe even actively pushing these promotions to try and gain some semi-loyalty from infrequent travellers. Silver costs Virgin very little so it is a very cheap way to try and gain some extra business.

But, this quote from a VS employee doesn't sound all too promising for those people who did use the link.

StillRedHot wrote:Just to let you know that all upgrades that were processed through this link will be returned back to Red Membership over the coming weeks (no loss of miles/suspension of accounts though).

Genuine IOD members will need to contact Flying Club with their member numbers to be reinstated to Silver.

Well, why don't we see how many people have it revoked rather than speculating? Anyone so far?

Well sure enough I have had my Silver status changed back to Red. The tier points I had lost in the upgrade to silver have been reinstated though.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Logged in to my account this morning to chose seats at T-90 and it stated there was no booking linked to my account. After a slight panic I discovered I was back to red and my FC number had changed (although the one against my name in the booking is the old silver number). No email or word from Virgin about it.

Worthwhile anyone that has used the link to upgrade to silver and has since booked flights checks they have the right FC against their name.

I presume they are doing it in date order as I was quite late to the party and am still Silver.

Had a lovely jump of 1 person in a queue for a Little Red flight on Saturday thanks to using the Premium line as VS Silver. Well worth a link click!

Well, that's certainly one in the eye for all those on here that think Silver status is hardly worth having :-)

Don't worry too much.....if you fly often enough you will be back to Silver in short time....if you don't, well what are a few extra bonus miles and a bit queue hopping every now and again!!!!

Fair play to VS, quietly putting people back to the tier they're supposed to be on.
