That's one of the few things that does seem to work, at least on my iPhone.

Oh wait ... hang on ... Guess what happens when I try to select flights:

Still, in theory you can do it.

It is somewhat concerning that, more than 48 hours since it launched, none of these bugs appear to have been fixed.

Yes. But no date yet.

I checked my seat plan which took a few attempts and I see that the seat plan has changed. We are on a flight from Manchester to San Francisco which I think is a A330. The seat map now only has 3 rows of seats instead of 4.

Yup, same problem logging in but can get into My Booking & I noticed that about the seat plan too, its still showing our pre-requested seat numbers so its a matter of fingers crossed at the moment! Yes its still the A330 - apparently!

Besides what if the passenger is not a member of FC and thus has no Profile?

I asked the same question on VA's Twitter only to receive a reply saying that the passport info should be entered under 'Secure flight passenger data and contact information'. I DM'd them a screen shot of what is possible to enter in that area. Hours later I received a DM stating 'Sorry for the delay in responding, is everything OK now'? I replied again with an even more detailed screenshot proving there are no passport entry fields in the area they said......no reply received back as yet.

All I can think is that passengers are no longer asked to complete the passport element of API in advance and need to do this at OLCI? Unless perhaps (for FC members only) it is pulled though from Profile at time of OLCU? Does anyone else know?

Thanks
James

OK...finally, finally I have a reply (on Twitter) from VS which, whilst a backward step, at least makes sense of the lack of passport API area on Manage My Booking!! Why oh why did they keep insisting that the facility existed when all along it has been removed! >>

"Hi James, I've just spoken to the web team. I can confirm that you only now enter passport numbers at the online check-in stage, which is why there is no longer an option to enter passport API against your booking".

I am sincerely hoping that, as a minimum , Flying Club members will have the option to auto-pull through their passport details from their FC profile. If not, the ONCI experience becomes a cumbersome affair with needing passports to hand for all passengers on the booking!

On the lighter side, if thats the case for future OLCI, bang goes any chance of getting the coveted SEQ1 & 2 in future if your fumbling around putting your info in then as well!

Ahh, not got round to checking out the app yet (cant log in) but on the desktop version there is only an option for a "return" flight, unless its hidden away somewhere.

thanks

Ah yes I see ... click on the little arrow just to the right of "Return". It'll reveal a drop-down menu that allows you to change it to One Way or Multi City.

Anyone else unable to access the booking engine on an iPad?

Mine just keeps crashing.

I click "Now, let's find you a flight" ...

Only to get this several times as it tries and fails to load the booking engine ...

And finally it gives up ...

Could be my very full iPad playing up but if it's universal, it's definitely a problem!

That's because the UC cabins on the A330s are being refitted over the next year to make them less crowded. The 'D' seats are being removed.

Looking at the seat map now then it would appear that the 'bar' is now showing to be at the front of the plane ??? Does anyone know if thats what is planned please?
I specifically picked our seats to be away from the bar area which they won't be if this is going to be the case :-(

Their social media teams seem a bit overwhelmed at the moment, but has anyone gotten a reply about the rewards calendar coming back?

Beyond just the boilerplate "we'll forward it to the web team blah blah" of course.

I think overwhelmed is an understatement. One reply from VA's Twitter team to a poor person experiencing one of the hundreds of bugs earlier was "To be honest I'm not sure when it will be fixed"

I do feel sorry for all the CS and social media staff. Nor can I believe how VS can of got the upgrade so badly wrong. Did they not do any UAT or any testing whatsoever? It's a total shambles and makes the old systems look great!

Management, eh! What scamps, always looking on the bright side. There have been many times when I have been developing test plans only to be told that we'd "gone live".

I wonder if this was developed using an "Agile" approach.

Even without a frequent flyer scheme (save for easyJet Plus, of which I am not a member) easyJet's booking system does this automatically after the first entry for the first flight.

People are often quick to throw around "was this even tested" etc but oftentimes, speaking from experience, QA/testing are the ones to get shafted. If a project is slow coming out of development and deadlines aren't shifted, then it's less time to test. And then people wonder why things went wrong.

DoomWolf wrote:The Shops Away link has gone (had to use the site search to even find any reference to it), replaced by a message saying that the facility is currently not available. That's 80 miles missed out on from my weekly online Sainbury's shop.

As a test of the flight search I did a search for flights from Heathrow to Salt Lake City next August, as this is what I've already got booked on Delta (through Virgin with a VS flight code), to see if it would show the Delta flights. It returned a message that no flights were available on that route either through Virgin or any partners. I then changed the destination on the search to JFK, leaving LHR as the departure airport and the dates the same. All it returned was Delta flights with no Virgin flights to JFK at all!

I've logged into Shops Away today to find that all of my pending miles and click history has now gone. During their upgrade period, I completed a purchase which would have seen and additional 1800 miles aded to my account. (The offer was 6 miles per £1 spent.)

Do we know if this is a temporary issue or if VA will credit the missing miles? Or, is it bad luck on my part?!

Totally agree and often hear the same about the software solution I work with. Release deadlines are so strict there's often not enough time for thorough testing Inc UAT meaning we get surprises when customers deploy the solution

So, now you can search for a flight by ticket class (H, S, W etc.) True. and it shows them - trying to book an S class ticket

BUT, you can't book it, because when you try it defaults to the lowest price ticket!

I generally agree that we need to be patient as there will always be snags - but, with the central point of an airline website - BOOKING!

Eventually managed to log in yesterday but one of my two recently applied PE upgrade vouchers is not displaying (CS agent said it is still there, just not visible to me) and now finally got the shops away portal to work and ALL pending and historic transactions have been wiped out! Having been fairly organised with xmas shopping this year I had a lot of miles pending. Hope they come back!!

Me too - I'd raised a missing miles query last week which now the Click History has gone! And was planning on starting the Christmas shopping over this weekend as a certain well known retailer is double miles at the moment!

On a separate point the seat map for my outbound VS125 on an A330 is no longer available - it was showing as re-configered too! Hope that its a web site glitch or an update and not that the flights about to be cancelled ;-(
