A strange day though without any SRB antics, sets the mind thinking over why VS have had very little coverage over the course of today events....[:?]
Unusually low key on the VS front, no partner paintwork for any UK airline. Did I hear someone say "cancelled order", perhaps? [:w][}:)]

I think Preiffer was making a joke with the canceled order thing, but the rumor mill is going kind of strong on VS pushing back their orders for the 388,I guess only time will tell, but I have a feeling they may try to play Boeing off against Airbus to improve the deal,on top of that after the problems they had with the 346 as the launch airline they may be trying to wait till the problems get sorted [?]

While my point obviously had no factual basis, I DO wonder... [:?]

Look at some of the recent "press releases" from va.com:

VIRGIN ATLANTIC INTRODUCES ?LUCY GARRETT STYLING' FOR UPPER CLASS PASSENGERS IN ITS HEATHROW CLUBHOUSE
VIRGIN ATLANTIC ANNOUNCES CODESHARE AGREEMENT WITH AIR CHINA
THE GREAT ESCAPADE WEBSITE LAUNCHES FOR ROUND-THE-WORLD TRAVEL
NEW FLYING WITHOUT FEAR COURSE AT LUTON AND NEWCASTLE AIRPORT
VIRGIN ATLANTIC INTRODUCES ?MIND GYM' FOR UPPER CLASS PASSENGERS IN ITS NEW HEATHROW CLUBHOUSE

Now - "World's Largest Aircraft - The A380 arrives in London for the first time ever".

Yet as a LAUNCH CUSTOMER, the Virgin PR machine is silent?

Note: Not even quiet - I mean SILENT. No posters, no statement, no press release, no involvement.

Sorry, I have to say it - SOMETHING'S UP. [n]

Totally agree Paul.

And what about the 777/748? Not intending to start a row, but that's another rumour .... [B)]

Even the BA 777 pilot on my flight back last night felt the need to announce it as we went past as a historic aviation day.....

I think those rumours are even more speculative than the whispers of VA falling out of love with the A380. Probably because they first appeared on a.net, where you will see a daily thread "When will (insert airline here) buy the 777/748/any other Boeing". Having previously seen Virgin strategy moving to an all-Airbus fleet, there would have to be something seriously wrong for that plan to be abandoned.

Yeah,great pic's Pete,Chris and Phil [y].

I don't see VS pulling out of the 380 deal either, but as I said I can see them using the 748 as a barganing chip, anyone have any idea's on how many 346's are left on the order?

Awaiting delivery of 6 more. After G-VFIT (Dancing Queen) gets delivered this month, we'll see G-VFIZ (Bubbles) in July 2006, G-VHIP in August 2006 and G-VYOU in October. Only another two on the schedule AFAIK, but IIRC, VS had 'options' for 6 aircraft, so im expecting these to become A346's

Thanks,
Sarah

Sorry mate, next time I spend 7 years of my life helping to develop and build a passenger plane to allow you to travel the globe in increased comfort with maximum efficiency, minimal enviromental impact and most importantly safely I shall be sure to check with you that it is exciting enough.

What particular colour would you like ? [ii] (gfk)

Hi Wayne, welcome to V-Flyer, we hope you stick around as there will be a lot of feedback on here when VS take delivery and start flying the 380. Thought she looked great BTW but I am a 744 man at heart so she needs to do a lot to win me over ;)

Wayne, she's a magnificent beast. Well done you all. I for one can't wait to fly a 380. I also think in Virgin colours she'd look fantastic, the airbus pasty pale colour doesn't do it justice.

Only A346's i can find with registrations awaiting delivery are MSN,s (manufacturers serial number) 723 (G-VHIP), 736 (G-VWIN), 753 (G-VFIT) & 764 (G-VFIZ). The following had no assigned reg, MSN's 765, 768, 787, 804, 846 & 848 (the last three aircraft are HGW variants).

Heathrow TV has a good shot of the A380 and you can see near the end the enterance to the CH !

It was quite thrilling to see it at Raleigh NC airport on CNN--they gave it quite a splash and paid particular notice to the tiny UK flags waving from the cockpit windows....and I had a lovely time explaining to those engaged nearby that (at least Virgin) did NOT plan to plant 800 pax onboard--they were considering fewer pax and adding a sauna, pool table and disco!

My Mass region is frequent witness to the lumbering C5A military aircraft out on maneuvers--the only thing near the size of a 380. I always cringe when its late afternoon shadow casts over my drive home. What fun to imagine such a behemoth used for fuel conservation to transport people off to myriad personal destinations rather than war machine.

According the pegitt's info in the Clubhouse thread, it was due to leave at 0555 on the 19th from 27L.

Too early for all but the most intrepid spotter, I would have thought. ;)[}:)]
