P'raps it is a generation thing. I was 'dragged up' by my parents to respect other people's space and not to drop litter. Rather, I was encouraged to take my litter home and dump it in the bin (or recycling receptable these days). Therefore, I wouldn't dream about chucking unwanted bits around on the floor of an aeroplane. [:D]
When I were but a nipper littering was a cause of opprobrium of the degree nowadays visited on those who actively choose to fly Ryanair.

Incidentally, (and I am talking primarily about the back of the aeroplane now) other than bits and pieces off the meal tray, and perhaps empty water bottles, where does all the rubbish come from [:?]
Polythene wrapping from blankets, opened and discarded amenity kits, the snacks that people load up on before they fly (as the only thing that little Tom eats is guava flavoured Pringles), copies of Heat and Hello! and newspapers (a particular problem on Sundays...).
