I've not seen one that compares across schemes. I once accessed a site that had a calculator on it that enabled you to decide whether to use Hilton points or pay for a hotel stay, and that was complex enough. I suspect that a straighforward "x points for y miles" comparison would be complicated enormously by the availability of reward seats. I guess 200k FC miles are basically worth b*gger all if you're trying to fly to Florida in the summer...

Thanks PJH, it will probably come down to a toss up between BA and VS miles.

My card arrived today
Won't be too difficult making the spend in the next three months although I do intend using the Caxton Dollar Card in the US.
Thanks for the tip

Got mine this week, hit the spend already booking an MFU with BA for us LGW-BGI (CW) for March 2011 :)

OT rant:
These are miles we collected because of the BA 2 for 1 CW sale all those months ago adding to the few thousand we had. At the same time that promo was on Virgin reckoned it wouldn't cost them much so decided not to compete and were fairly cocky about it. Combined with the miles from the Amex promo means X3 (possibly X4) bookings will be going BA's way instead of VS's. Don't get me wrong, I'd still rather travel with VS in upper as opposed to BA in CW but when it comes to price VS didn't compete and paid the price here.

Do not forget to cancel card before its renewal or it will cost £95
:)

Just had my first bill and the £95 has been charged to it so maybe they have cottoned onto people using for a year, getting the rewards then cancelling.

You will get charged the first year immediately. This is always the case with Amex fee cards. You just need to cancel after you get your MR points, and before the next year, but ensure you have moved the MR points or you'll lose them when you cancel, unless you have another Amex MR card, as they all go into the same account.

Just a heads up that if you're expecting to get the 2 points per pound offer for travel related you may need to chase them up. I noticed I was getting only one point for spend at Hertz, Hilton and Virgin America, emailed them about it and received the response

"Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused due to you having to bring this to our attention.
After viewing the notes on your account I am pleased to confirm that all bonus points will be backdated and all future bonus points will be applied."

So it looks like it isn't automatic...

I just applied for this last night and as I had just got enough miles for a couple of o/w Gs I am now thinking of waiting a bit more and saving up some more.

I also am on the waitlist... I will think of something to blame!!

Two points per pound on travel is great - puts it on a par with the VS Amex for non VS travel spend, but without getting stuck with more flying club miles!

Any sign that the double MR points on travel is a limited offer, or will it be the standard rate on this card?

Now, off to break the card in with Virgin America.

Darren - I have the points but I had to chase Amex. To their credit they have responded to my queries and taken action in a couple of days. My correspondence with them suggests that the addition of the bonus points - both the initial 20k and the double points on travel spend - is a manual action taken by someone reading the notes to the account.

Not that I've seen. There is a limited (1 year) doubling for petrol and grocery spending.

I did get double points for some VA spend but, as I said above, had to do a bit of chasing to make sure they were added.

**UPDATE**

On checking my account today I can see that any recent travel spend is automatically accruing double points, as is petrol spend.

Now all I need to do is to get the £60 cashback and I'll be a happy chappy.

Has anyone yet received their Quidco £60 cashback? I've not received this nor the 20,000 points but given what's said above now appreciate that latter needs a manual intervention. Surely though Quido shouldn't need to be chased, after all I am in receipt of the Amex card, have completed my £500 spend, and settled my first statement which included the £95 annual fee - why are Quidco holding back?

Thanks

James I had to do a manual query on Quidco - and I have an entry that says it has tracked but nothing more. I've also had my first statement and paid the £ 95

Will check my Amex account for the 20k and the double miles on travel.

Quidco cask back can take upto 120 days to be paid once validated (which can take even longer than that)

Some merchants take longer than others to pay Quidco. I'm still waiting for cash back from Apple from last September!!! There's nothing much you can do to speed up Quidco payments I'm afraid.

How long should one wait for the Quidco transaction to appear as 'validated' or even tracked for that matter?

Nothing has appeared, even after 6 weeks or more, although Quidco does show me as viewing the offer.

Sounds like to need to put in a claim via the transaction page which is what I had to do as it hadn't tracked after a month.

Try a a manual earnings enquiry. This will at least show it up in your Quidco account. You need to make sure you select the correct time/date you made the original click-through purchase though as Quidco tracks every click-though transaction you have done for every retailer (even if you didn't make a purchase)

Some retailers don't let you do a manual earnings enquiry until a specified amount of time has passed though.

I think it's 30 days in the case of Amex.

I've just checked my MR statement and I've received triple miles on Virgin America flights, and double miles on Tesco shopping. I thought it was double miles on travel? Have others seen triple miles on some purchases?

Just wondered if anyone has actually yet succeeded in getting their £60 Quidco casback or 20,000 MR points? I did a manual enquiry many weeks ago on Quidco and since then all it says is "tracked on..." ? Have also submitted an on-line chaser to AMEX in the hope that they offer up the MR points.

Appreciate Mitcha mentioned earlier in this thread that it can sometimes take 120 days for Quidco moneyback to show but for me it is just this one transaction (out of dozens so far) that has been a problem. Just a bit miffed that AMEX are still pushing this offer on the Quidco site yet it seems nigh on impossible to get the cashback from them or MR points from AMEX :-(

Thanks
James

James

My situation is...

1. Got the 20k points
2. Not got the cashback
3. Continually having to pick Amex up about not awarding double points on travel spend (Hilton not a big enough brand, chaps :w )

Have hit the spend level but the 20k bonus not credited. nor double miles so will be making a call at the weekend.

Not happy with quidco either - have done 4 transactions with them and have had to put in manual claims for all of them. never had this trouble with cashback kings ...
