My wife and I sampled the inbound menu on Sunday. We each had a different starter, I had the Smoked Salmon which we quite acceptable and my wife had the soup which she described as different. We both had the Steak Main which was again OK except that the potato was raw (not good) The apple souffle we agreed was very nice.

Am I the only one who would like to have a basic soup i.e. Tomato or Oxtail instead of all these fancy concoctions. Also a plain white bread roll would be nice.

I will certainly look forward to the Lancashire hotpot when I return in January.

When do the UK-USA menus's change? I'll be flying on May 28th, any ideas when the menu would be available so me and my fellow travellers can have a sneak peek at whats gonna be on offer?

Regards

Thanks HL,
Looks like we will not be partaking too much inbound or outbound, at least with BA we could eat the meals. Why are there so many nuts involved. I don't do nuts and as for the soup and breads......yuk

Hope the menu in August is better. :(

The new menu is out - I had it last night on the VS4 from JFK - and I'm afraid I forgot to nab a copy to write up.

I can say however that I had parsnip soup (yep, it's still there) and then a steak pie, mash, and green beans. Which was uniformly awful. Papery, tasteless pie, smothered in yucky gravy, with green beans piled on top and bizarrely two small tomatoes smothered in gravy too (has someone in VS towers catering gone Heston-bad mad!).

I had believed that VS was getting its act together with the on board food, but this was a D- effort. Mind you, the FSM introduced herself as the "manageress" and that just added to the feeling of being in Skegness on a wet weekend!

The lovely Austrian velvet wine has gone, in reds there's a Californian Pinot, A very acceptable Minervois, and I think a Bordeaux ...
