To be fair to Dixons (and to clear up confusion) the website does not mention 'tax free' or 'duty free' prices only 'airport prices'

I'm not going to argue whether that is sharp practice or not ...

As to the $-£ rate, listed as 1.59 on the BBC. I'm sure I remember it hitting 2.00 on one trip ...

It hit over 2 at one point - that was a very cheap trip to the Apple Store in Chicago for me a few years ago!

12 month low as in more dollars per pound. My Amex Forex advisor keeps offering me forward contracts as the rates are so good. I remember 2.5 so I don't think these rates are so good but they beat the 1.4 it rose to.
