We're using our well earned miles on a Z class ticket to Delhi in August, reading all of this about DTCI I was wondering what happens if you need to travel there by taxi? As it asks for drivers name, vehicle type etc I wouldn't know that till the taxi arrived, or do I just call up, book the time slot and then call en route with the required details??

Thanks in advance for any answers :)

So let's just accept that we're clearly divided on this issue shall we, and behave like the adults we purport to be.

Yet you made the first attack on me and my making a 'socialist conclusion' when I did nothing of the sort.

BTW is is not somewhat hypoicritcal that in this thread you are essentially arging that pax flying in PE and Y should not be allowed into the CH

if people want a particular service, then they can pay full rate for it, not get it on the cheap.

but in aother you are asking that a group of people - simply because of the jobs they have - should be given free access because some US airlines give that group access to theies?

You don't appear to be aware that pax flying in PE and Y can get access to the CH by having an Au card - which can be obtained simply by earning enough Tier Points and you do that even if you fly often enough in Y without ever sitting in the pointy end.

It is also possible for a Virgin Holiday pax to buy a pass into the CH if they are flying in PE or Y.

As an UC pax (Z ticket) I have also taken a guest into the CH who was flying PE. On the same flight a friend also in UC brought his Y flying friend into the CH too. Neither of these paople paid to get into the CH.

All within the rules that VS has set.

If you don't like the VS rules then fly with another airline.

Yes phone in advance to book the slot and then when your taxi arrives on the day you can call enroute - I did this myself when I was offered DTCI on my lowly G - but you need to give at least 30 minutes notice of these details.

Actually, I'm well aware of the rules pertaining to CH access, being a Gold Card holder for the last 5 years; so I don't think I'll bother pursuing that line of argument any further if that's quite alright with you.

As for not liking the airline rules; well, I refer you to the point above.

I'm not willing to continue this discussion any further frankly. If you want to, then go right ahead, but I'm quite content leaving the matter as it stands - I stand by my opinions, and you should have the moral courage to accept them and move on.

Lets keep this thread on topic, please.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, voice yours if you disagree, but do it in an adult and civilised manner. Personal attacks and insults and not needed, allowed or wanted on here, so remember that before posting.

Thanks,

I got an email about this today as I fly to Washington on Saturday on a Z class ticket for a food show early next week.

So we've now managed to sort it so my father in law can drop us straight off at the drop off point and we can say goodbye to him and our daughter and go straight up to the clubhouse....yay.

Well straight to the CH through Duty Free. Then up those stairs or take a lift :P

What's that then? I called VS the other day, as it wasn't clear what happens if you already have independent car parking booked (and the answer was that you can't use DTCI) - but the lift was mentioned... have I missed a vital part of the experience? Where is this magical lift? If I can't get SEQ1 (and of course, I won't be able to), would like to try the lift thing :) )

Or does that all just sound a bit sad...

That's the lift from check in up to the security channel area. There is also a lift up to the actual CH instead of walking up the stairs!

Hmmm - am of the opinion that if someone puts a lift it, it's rude not to take it :P .

Yeah, it does. Says the person who gets a kick out of using a Dart Tag (for the QE2 Bridge crossing) and hearing the 'beep'. Each time.... ii)
