If it's an evening flight I go straight from work, for early morning flights I may check in to the airport hotel after work the day before. Cases are usually ready the weekend before so no panic in the lead up apart from adding a few (well it's usually quite a lot actually) extras that I suddenly decide I can't live without after all! :w

We have never printed ours; being ETickets never dawned that the check in agent may not have access electronically (and as we OLIC and print boarding passess at home or away where we can) we have never needed them ?|

VS tell you to bring your e-ticket and I have always been asked for it at LHR. I have never understood this myself (for the reasons you suggest) but I meekly comply. :)

Mind you, having proof of your return ticket with you is never a bad idea if you have to go through US immigration -- I have been asked for it in the past.

Depends what I have going on in the gambling world. I've been known to run around all day chucking my stuff in the case as I think about it (I already have essentials in a case anyway) and then 'working' on my gambling stuff until 2/3/4am. I then go to bed and lie there for a couple of hours (my mind too active from 'work') before getting up to get ready to go to the airport.

Other times there's nothing I need to do and I just chill and relax all day. The things I do are very time sensitive so I have to do it when it's there.

This year was the first time ever that I did not print out anything for my holiday. I simply created PDF files of everything and then transferred them to iBooks on my iPad - worked a treat!

I can pack a case in record time but I usually pack the night before. I don't have to worry about forgetting anything - I have US charger cables, a US hairdryer, a US hair straightener and a toiletry bag which never leave my case. :)

Another holiday traveller here, usually have the day off before flying and make sure pretty much everything is packed with just a few spaces left to add the last minute things. Collect hire car, secure our own cars in the garage/driveway and make sure all the bills are paid, etc.

Cool! I must try that. y)

I have found that in many of the out-stations on the VS route they have simply asked for my passport while I have been fumbling to retrieve my e-ticket. Even in Durban when I was connecting to VS on a separate ticket they simply asked for the number of the flight. That was what e-ticketing was meant to be about - a ticketless society

Incidentally, as a bit of a tangent when I did OLCI for my recent AMS-LHR-SFO jaunt I was proud to have the boarding pass for the BA flight from AMS on my iPhone. So what did BA do when I checked in my bags? Yup, that's right - they gave me a paper boarding pass!

I often travel up the night before if it's an early AM flight as the M4 can be a pain (like it was yesterday due to the fire in the Brynglas tunnel). I generally work the day before a flight and have been in to work for a few hours on the day of a flight if it's a PM/night flight. I've taken to packing my case the day of departure (because my life is general chaos at the moment ) which seems to have a direct correlation with the number of bags I seem to pack. Same day = less bags (and I still take waaaayyyyyy too much) ): .
I also seem to spend a lot of time preparing a long list of do's and don'ts for Dragonbaby...feed cat, no wild parties, do washing, load dishwasher,.....etc etc

Having the boarding pass on your phone is great for the single traveller, not for a family of 4. Coming back from EDI, I had 4 separate text messages for each boarding pass. :w

Great for the environment, not great for speed.

Like Tinks I put everything on my iPad so I have all bookings together - hotel, limos, cars, flights, even restaurant bookings, then if I'm smart and retain the hyperlinks I can easily amend or view anything.

As to paper tickets, in the past I have presented my passport and eticket at check in, only for the paper to be politely pushed back at me. So I no longer bother. As to US customs, they have your return flight in their system, so when they ask you how long you're staying for its a small test, then can immediately see if you are lying!

Everyone in our house either goes out or keeps out of my way and their heads down.

House has to be cleaned top to bottom, beds stripped, bins emptied and washed out, grass cut (that's outside), garden tidied, all washing and ironing done and put away, cars cleaned and vacuumed, dishwasher emptied. :) and woe betide ANYONE who goes inside the exclusion zone of the packed cases v(

Last thing is don't anyone even think about speaking to me and break my concentration. ;)

Actually I might print this out and use it as my check list :P

Laughing here, as it sounds pretty much the way my day goes. Or part of it.... I usually am at work the day before, so a lot of the afore-mentioned deep cleaning has been done, but I do try to leave work mid-afternoon at the latest for the final stuff. Packing's usually done by then, but has to be a check or 3 done. Because you do, after all, have to have a gleaming house left, do you not?!

The final, final thing I do is put bleach down the loos. Oh come on, I bet I'm not the only one who does this?! Preceded by 'do you need the loo at all' Reply 'no' - loo bleaching and then himself decides he will go after all.... rofl.....
