I'm sre the price level was considered carefully and I can understand the thinking.

In my case, I won't be taking the option, I'll just occassionaly take the full UC experience.

I'm really sorry - I totally didn't mean it in that way at all (but I understand your feelings towards this - I do actually agree with you!)

I am slightly puzzled by this new package.

For people who are Gold but not terribly frequent fliers, tier points are an issue in order to renew, and the best way to get them in that situation is to fly UC even if you would otherwise be happy with PE.

But if you can get the most desirable benefits of Gold status by paying for the Guest List, it could very easily turn out to be much cheaper to do this a few times rather than worry about status.

That seems to me to dilute Gold a bit.

Lol pretty much what I was prattling on about earlier.. fully agree.

Will see what new benefits (if any) appear AUs way in the coming months, here is hoping they will come up with something for us.. :?

Hi, this is my first post so hi to all you v flyers!!

Just wondering if anyone has actually used this service yet?

My self and my future wife will be traveling for our wedding/ honeymoon in PE and unfortunately my budget doesn't stretch to upper but this seems like a good compromise.

For that matter if someone could tell me what the upper class wing is like and clubhouse that would be much appreciated!! :)

Just to be clear, where are you travelling to as the Upper Class wing is only available in Heathrow. It is a separate private security channel and can only be accessed using a bar code on your boarding pass. It is cut off from the main security area in T3 but you exit alongside them. Most of the time it is quiet but I have had one occasion where it has been busy but more often than not I have had the place to myself.

Both Clubhouses in LHR and LGW are great. The one in LHR is bigger and is a true flagship of VS but many people feel that the staff in LGW are friendlier. There is plenty of detail on the VS website of both

If there are 4 of you travelling and you live 75 miles from the airport, £135 each for a one-way transfer plus DTCI and CH doesn't seem too unreasonable.

But £400 for a 2-way transfer for 1 person living 25 miles away? Extortionate.

I wonder what the take-up will be. Are they marketing it? (other than on the website)

Haven't seen anything out yet, but it is brand new so who knows what direction they will take with it. :?

It is probably going to be one of those things that VH or VS flog on sales phone calls people sometimes get before flights.

VS sent me an email yesterday asking if I wanted to enhance my upcoming PE flight to ORD with all the guest list options.

I won't be bothering. Simply not worth the money IMHO.

Is it really an invitation if you have to pay for it?

Sorry to be a pain, has anyone used this yet? I have booked for March as we are travelling PE (miles sale and PE upgrade vouchers), I haven't told John yet incase it really is a bad idea.

We are travelling on the VS05 but want to be in with a chance of bulkhead seats,(probably no chance) which means being at the airport by 06.45. The 3 hour clubhouse visit can apparently start at anytime.

So we have choice of wandering around for a while, pre or post clubhouse. Would you go ahead with it, if so would you go straight from drive-in check-in to clubhouse (and then be evicted) or wander round and then go in the clubhouse for the three hours before boarding?

Or should I just cancel? I can never make my mind up so opinions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Karen

I think it's a great idea personally.
Prob not cost effective but if you have the money go for it I say.
The CH is fantastic and I would spend days there if I could .
I wouldn't worry about bulkhead seats ,I flew to New York last month in PE and had the first row in front of me empty ,I tried the seats and found I preferred where I was because you actually have more legroom stretching your legs out so I stayed where I was .

Sorry sunsational, have not used it yet (I'm AU so a lot of the inclusions already fall my way)

I still stick by my earlier view that it is def overpriced for what it is. CH access might be paid for on the day depending on how full the CH is .... £60 a head which is a damn sight better than the hundreds that the guest list package charges you. Otherwise there are a couple of lounges at LHR that are pretty good, no1 lounge jumps to mind. In terms of the transfer, how do you usually get to the airport? Would it be more economical to arrange your own transport? At that time in the morning security will not be too bad, you should breeze through.. Sorry Karen, a numbers game for me on this one :#

Regarding the bulkhead seats in PE, Blacky is quite correct, usually the legroom is better in the rows behind as you also have the space under the chair in front.. the benefit of bulkhead is that you have no risk of having someone recline into your lap :P

That all being said, dependant on the aircraft in use on the day, the front row of the LHR 747s offer a massive amount of legroom by the doors.. Early check-in is always a good idea though in case you get to snag an elusive upgrade :w

Just my opinion Karen, feel free to ignore me :P . In these kinda situations of do I or don't I, I usually trust my gut..... what is yours telling you to do? 8D

I used this service in September last year and it was amazing!

In terms of value for money then I'm not sure it ticks that box, but you could use the argument that upper class doesn't offer value for money either.... It gets you to the same place at the same time as economy does, just in much more comfort- that said I would always prefer upper ):

For me it was about making something extra special, it certainly did that. It was the trip to our wedding in NYC and neither of us could have asked for a better start to it. The service was sublime from start to finish.

I think we were in the clubhouse for slightly more than 3 hours and there was no sign of being thrown out so I wouldn't worry about that.
