One point I would raise I wanted to book 2 flights using points to New York in September which would cost £526 plus 70000 VS miles . BA same dates £800 and 80000 hmm thanks and no thanks BA

.. but with the BA 241 you pay £400 and 40000...yes please to that :)

800 quid taxes for a BA upgrade? They said it could be as much as that when I looked before, but people inferred it was more 500 quid.

Sounds like I'd do a WT+ and upgrade with the 20K miles or whatever it costs... Can't be that much difference with NY.

With the redemption problems, and recent pricing of Y flights, I see virgin keeps with the death spiral of overpricing, that the national lottery decided to go to (double the price, quarter the sales). I thought it was the unfilled Y cabins which are losing it money, not the full PE or UC cabins (though no great UC offers in last couple of years).
