I think you raised an entirely legitimate point and the blowback is quite interesting. In many ways I agree with you.

I agree with at240. I did not think you posted anything unreasonable. And I was also a tad disappointed to see that such "blowback" was initiated by one of this site's moderators.

It seems people guard Upper Class with their lives on this forum :-) That's perfectly fine. I'm always cautious with 'perceived value' vs 'real value' - and I think the airlines (Virgin included) do an amazing job of promoting the 'intangible value' of their upper class offerings.

When you break down the cost - at least in my mind - there are so many better ways to spend a couple thousand dollars. A few amazing meals at top restaurants, a couple nights in an amazing hotel - the list goes on. Of course, my favorite option - saving the money :-)

The moderators discussed this and it was felt that when a thread is posted asking for advice and tips about maximising an already booked UC trip, a reply, in a negative manner, by a user who had recently been so vocal about not flying UC, suggesting booking UC is a waste of money is not very helpful nor in the spirit of the site.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but posts as I have described above offer nothing to a thread and actually end up derailing it from it's original purpose or topic (which is exactly what has happened here).

We have many members who fly all classes, there is no protection over UC, and in many cases quite the opposite.

Please can we keep all future posts on topic.
