MCO terminal Move

This move will catch a lot of people out. I’m not flying into MCO I’m flying out from it so will miss the long lines at immigration. I am however worried about the lounge situation. You would think VS would build a clubhouse for MCO considering Washington has one and that only has one flight a day.

I did see on the Florida news last year Terminal A and B is going to start a big refurbishment project so VS might be moving to avoid the construction. I know form flying out of Manchester over the past 8 years how that can cause disruption.

Yea I wonder if they are just moving while the refurbs take place then will swap back once its all done ?

VS would need at leas 4 gates at terminal C maybe even 5 in the summer school holidays. From what my sister told me it took 2 hours to go though passport, control and customs when she went with Aer Lingus 2 years ago. I dread to think what that would be in the summer.

In Terminal C you do baggage collection before immigration and customs. Baggage in Terminal C has a reputation for being very slow (even more so if there is a storm / lightning in the area). So the slow baggage helps to "trickle-feed" passengers through immigration and customs, unlike in Airside 4 where the immigration queue can go from 0 to over 300 passengers in the space of 10mins as an arriving international flight de-boards passengers (even worse when you have multiple international arrivals close to each other).

In Airside 4 you could often be off the aircraft fast (especially if in Upper Class), brisk walk to immigration & through with Global Entry (if you have it, obviously) and the baggage belt could be starting up within 5mins of you arriving at it. My record in Airside 4 is 21 mins from touching-down to being in rental car.

Indeed, my tickets for 27 June have gone back to Terminal A.

We've got access when on BA (and Amex Plat, but you can't get in regularly on that).

The lounge isn't bad, the food isn't the best lounge food we've had, but it's better than the DL lounge in the current area (from our opinion). Better beer, spirit and wine selection than DL lounge. It is cramped though, seats for all but no "spare seats" as it already does run at capacity.

Never used the shower, but pretty sure one exists there.

There are worse lounges on the VS network than this, and it's more than made up for by the better arrivals experience. @David be interested your thoughts, but in effeect you pickup bags THEN do the border on the C experience, and the bag arrival periods keep the queue for customs short. We've been out of the airport in sub 10 minutes from landing on C. And yees, thats not when we were the only arrival, there were 3 international arrivals at time using same channels.

The downsides are it is a reasonable walk to the car rental area, more so if you have to do the cross terminal train to get a car from A/B (as we had to, as we'd booked wrong terminal as couldn't move when BA moved like this (we were on BA's first day, and we've been twice since so unexpectedly had the new terminal). I've said before but we book BA because of the C terminal as the speed of security on the jouney home and the better arrivals experince on way in more than makes up for the (slightly worse) lounge.

VS definitely making a postiive move (for us at least) here.

The only thing I’ll miss from Terminal A/B is the carpet. Security was always a nightmare when I’ve been there even with pre-check. Flown out of Terminal C a few times, and it’s so smooth. Never flown into TC so can’t comment on immigration but with A/B it was really hit and miss.

What is odd is that Virgin doesn’t have their own clubhouse. Unless (I) too expensive for them or (II) lack of space. I think combined up to 5 daily flights in summer and 2 in winter, that’s more than IAD, SFO and even LAX. Granted when using leisure A350 config there are only 16 UC seats. But still.
