Don't like the reduction in probability of refurb tomorrow for VS93!

No problem, she is operating the VS33 to ANU today :)

The upgrades to our fleet are almost completed and therefore you will be able to select your Premium Economy seats via Manage my flights or your travel agent from 8 October 2012 if your flight is after 5 January 2013. If you flight is before 5 January 2013 your seats will be assigned at check in.

This statement made me laugh, do they not know that they aren't even half way through the upgrades yet n(

They are more than half way through the refurb of the 4th aircraft out of 7, so I'd say they have passed the half way point, but "almost complete" is perhaps a little exaggeration

Hmm, well mixed feelings after OLCI for VS93 tomorrow.
Got a config-2 aircraft which I've worked out is likely to be VTOP - so stuck with Odyssey - there will be fights for the iPad!
But on a positive note we've got 21ABC so can stretch legs and have a baby cot and a window seat!
Might be green with envy after 10h of staring at PE/UC though!

I am looking to return to jamaica in Feb 2013, but in 2 minds about using VS as the aircraft we flew in this year was very tatty in PE. The Thomson upgraded cabin is cheaper and when we last used it was better than the one we experienced on VS066 this year...Decisions decisions!

Problem with Thompsons is very often the plane has no PE when you get on it and they know full well it isn't going to be there even though they sell the PE.

Are you referring to Thomas Cook?

Thomson/First Choice offer a good PE product and when booked it is present on the aircraft.

Not always the case, a colleague was booked PE from SFB and on arrival at the airport was told the a/c operating the flight didn't have PE on it so had to fly back Y

I'm going to take a guess that ROS is due back soon?.. HOT has been moved back up to Heathrow after doing the LGW-BGI route for the past few weeks.

Hasn't HOT only been at LGW due to one of the A333's being in for maintenance and it meaning that the VS75 has had to be operated by a 747 rather than the A333 making them an a/c short.

VTOP seems to be the popular choice for flights from MAN to MCO according to statistics...even when the 4th refit is complete later this month I can see LGW getting preference...such a shame for us departing from MAN ?|

Since last Monday MAN has had a refitted a/c operated one of the flights every day. That has continued at the start of this week also.

I have said MANY times before, there is no conspiracy against MAN, or it's pax, the a/c operate on a rotation basis and swap out at MCO and LAS, so it is just how the fleet is working on the swap days as to which a/c goes to MAN.

I keep checking my seatmap for 2nd Oct out of LGW to MCO and its the old config ( not all that bothered to be honest ) so perhaps they are looking favourably at MAN :)

We are flying from LGW to BGI on 17 Nov and the Seat Map on our booking for both trips is showing "Seating configuration 1" rather than than "Seating configuration LGW-1" as given in jh71283's helpful post above on 31/5/12. I presume that this means that we are flying on a B747 that had not yet been refitted?

It is still to far in advance to know, by then there is a good chance that 6 of the 7 refitted a/c could be in operation, and at worst 5 will almost certainly be operating, so the chances are greater than not.

With your flight been so far in advance still (in planning terms), they will show it as the old config and just change it nearer the time.

Thanks,
Neil

Neil, I was referring to a refurbed 747 a/c, G-VLIP is the only refurb i can see that has flown out or into MAN in the past month.

I know you were, which is what my reply was regarding. You are correct that G-VLIP has been the only refitted a/c ex MAN last month, but with only 2 flights a day ex MAN and only 1 on a 747 it really isn't that bad.

The a/c swap out in MCO and LAS and stay at MAN for about a week. LIP has now gone back to ex LGW flights and MAN has a new a/c, AST, which again is a refitted a/c. This means that every MAN flight on a 747 will have a refitted a/c, unlike LGW :)

Hi there, if you look at the 1st post on this thread, you will see the latest information (the mods of the site keep it updated as and when aircraft are refitted).

There are currently 3 completed and the 4th will almost definately be completed also by the time you fly.

Cheers Neil, fingers crossed for VS073 on 3rd October for our honeymoon ;)
