Boo Boo wrote:No, I have read the whole thread, I assure you... I just cannot believe that someone is that picky - it feels like being at school again ?|

The Kosher meal is likely to be a mistake, but who knows. Therefore I made the most useful suggestion: let M&S/Waitrose/"Caviar House" provide the catering and enjoy your flight. y)

Your replies sure make it feel like being back at school to me too y)

I don't know why you're so concerned. I made an observation that I didn't fancy any of the mains and am considering my options. Your condescending posts aren't helping matters, merely stirring the pot.

It's as simple as personal taste. I am deciding whether to order a kosher meal (hence me asking if anyone knows what it is at the moment) or stick with the light bites, you've decided to make a meal (no pun intended) out of it.

Oh the Kosher meal is likely to be a mistake is it? You say that even though you've never had one ii)

Do me a favour and don't give me anymore of your suggestions' unless you've actually tasted any of the options n(

I've heard on the grapevine that VS are planning to remove the bars in UC and replace with an All You Can Eat buffet providing 20 different food options to suit all tastes....

:w :w :w :w :w :w ;) ;) ;)

(I hope I didn't cause too many v-flyers to fall off their chairs with the idea of VS removing the bar with my little joke! :o) :o)

Oh Luke you should have used that on April Fools Day!

Could you imagine the CC welcoming pax on board and asking 'do you know how to operate your suite and have you ever visited our salad cart before?'

LOL - consider it a belated April Fools! Might be onto something with that salad bar idea Tonty, perhaps you should suggest it to VS! ;)

y) Not such a bad idea, at least it would be used by the majority rather than the minority. :# I obviously haven't been on a flight with any V-Flyers as very few people have been at the bar on the flights I have been on. y) I could just imagine what the cabin would look like with a salad bar and turbulance!

New to v-flyer so have been reading and hoping to learn what is ok and acceptable. Some of the exchanges on this thread have been a bit heated. Hope to start posting but a bit more cautious now. :?

Welcome to V-Flyer, Fox.

Occasionally exchanges can become a bit heated but such instances tend to be few and far between and we try to nip it in the bud when that happens. Differences of opinion will always happen but we insist on respect for all our members and personal insults, name-calling etc will be removed from the site. Please do feel free to start posting. Your contribution will be valued

Whatever you decide, enjoy....but somehow I doubt that you will.

ii) ii)

I don't care what religion you are. I guess you are trying to tell me you are Jewish? If so have you have tried the latest Kosgher meal? If so then just give me your opinion on it (as I've asked earlier in the thread) rather than have a go at me for wanting something other than the main courses listed.

If you're not happy with people asking for options on the menu thread (which is a sticky for info and discussion) I suggest you stop looking and posting on it.

I will be perfectly happy with whatever I decide BTW. I don't see why you're getting so hung up over someone looking for other options BECAUSE THEY JUST DON'T FANCY ANY OF THE MAIN COURSES I am merely seeking opions which I find totally reasonable afterall, Virgin offer the menu choice or the option to order a special meal. You're making something out of nothing

You need to get in with the 'clique' copy the words they use and cozy up to them and you'll be fine. The same can be said for any forum though so it's not exclusive to v-flyer :D

I did try the veggie option one year(2008), and i got a piece of french dry bread and a lettuce leaf with a thin piece of cucumber, and a drink. I waited for something else to come but was told that was it. They brought me a bag of nuts. :0

Welcome Fox!

You will be very happy here at v flyer, it's only the odd few who ruin it for others, I can promise that! Give it a chance and you will see how many lovely people are here.

Despite what others have said, it is a forum so freedom of speech is permitted, just as long as you keep it polite and mature!

Healthy discussion is a good thing too :)

Just as a thought, given someone eluded to it, will they let me take Caviar on board and eat it. The thought appeals to me. As a one off mind I am not saying Caviar is my staple diet or anything.

Why can't we have those fabulous square pies again.

Hi guys thanks for the info, I'm more than happy to mix it with online stuff I just did not want to risk a moderator intervention :) not strictly related to the upper class menu but on my last flight I opted for the diabetic meal (I am diabetic but never tried the VS version). As it says on the nutrition page low in salt and sugar high in fiber, they were not kidding about the fiber :D nice meal though and healthy for non diabetics. Thanks again.

As has been mentioned, healthy debate is always welcome on V-Flyer, provided it remains friendly and does not descend into insults and personal attacks.

Some of the posts above have come very close.

To prevent the actual menu getting lost amongst the opinions and questions, I have split the thread in two and locked the actual menu.

Please continue to discuss the Upper Class Summer 2011 menu, but as Honey Lamb says, "Play nice".

Eating caviar onboard is not a problem. I once saw a couple who bought a picnic of it from the Caviar House in T3, asked for two plates when they were ready and then had their picnic with a glass of champagne at 35000ft.

This may not be the case now but they used to ask where you were flying to (if you asked for a take away) and if it was for certain destinations (can't remember which) then they had to take a certain item out of the picnic as it either wasn't allowed on board or in the destination country. I saw this once and the chap just ate that item then and there.

I dont see that your religious preference has anything to do with this thread, instead of getting your pants/knickers in a twist why not show some humility and stop posting on this particular thread, instead of throwing the religion card in - totally irelevant v(

To the poster who asked about caviar - taking it onboard should be no problem, but you would probably have to consume it all and not take any off of the plane at your destination :) (probably not a problem ;) )

Boo Boo, certainly right about not taking food off the plane in USA - accidentally left a couple of apples in my hand luggage once, picked up by a sniffer dog in the baggage hall - serious lecture from official re $1500 fine - let off with a warning Mrs Fox not impressed v( I was in the doghouse for several hours :D terrible pun sorry :)

With this new summer upper class menu, i can see it doesn't jump out with some nice dishes like last years lamb which was great but i just wondered if anyone has had the guinea foul meal on board or tried it at home as I would like to know what it tastes like?? Is it like chicken in any way?? Just worried that it's a long flight and I won't eat the food served?

Thanks

You obviously mean to post something in your mind but it's coming out on the the screen another way and certainly has been anything but constructive.

Here's some more smilies for you, all of which are applicable:
