My experience of flying Transatlantic is limited to BA, VS & EI. Of which BA, are the only ones to charge for seating pre-assignments prior to OLCI opening & I had always assumed (dangerous I know) that they were alone in this policy.
Which other airlines flying the TA route charge for seating assignments currently ?
Kered, I cannot speak for gumshoe but my post was non specific to the transatlantic route to include all airlines as VS don't just compete on the transatlantic route.... yep a hell of a lot of airlines out there, def enough to fill a wheelbarrow
Pretty much all of the short haul hoppers around Europe charge for this service, moving around the globe to inter asia, inter australian and new zealand also to have seats pre-selected attracts a charge depending on where in the plane you may wish to sit... at least that is from my experiences - perhaps someone could confirm who travels over that way more frequently than I
Inter US flights are next up... there are some airlines that levy charges for pre selection again dependant on seat location.. bulkhead and exit rows of course attract a higher charge ): I cannot give you a list, however I am sure google could be of assistance. BA are not alone
