I had 4 changes yesterday.

LAX flights changing to B787, and Miami flight in Jan leaving half an hour earlier (which is good) , and JFK flight time altered by 5 mins.

I understand they are having issues with the B787 engines, but seems very strange to have all the West Coast using them for W25 (LAX,LAS,SFO).

Anyway I changed my flights yesterday as I paid premium but upgraded with points UC on LHR-LAX. That originally cost me 125,000 points to upgrade for 2 pax. So I changed to it to LHR-LAS (had to pay change fee but offset by cancelling LA hotel). Got 98,000 points back!

I wonder if they will fit different engines on the B787 during the refit 28/30.

Our Dubai Flights in January have changed from a 787 to the leisure config A350 and the timings have changed by about one hour. We couldn't get Upper seats with miles as the were in excess of 1 million for two passengers!! Managed to get a saver premium fare which we are happy with. I know the seat is narrower, but apart from that we are looking forward to trying premium for the first time. Any advice on seat selection would be appreciated, we are currently the last row before economy.

Thanks,

Steve

We have exactly the same problem and I am very unhappy about it. I booked flexible tickets, but if we change to the 09 40 flight, we have to pay an additional.1k each

It's about the number of rotations they're completing and how that aligns into maintenance schedules. The T1000 fix is being implemented which should assist but it won't be a quick fix. They need to put the 789s where they can get max benefit versus the maintenance schedules - west coast is clearly the sweet spot for them.

Just received notification my Nov/Dec flights have both changed:

26/11/25 - VS135 (LHR-MCO) - moved from 1330 hrs back to a 0800 hrs departure (less clubhouse time/far earlier start etc)

09/12/25 - VS22 (IAD- LHR) - moved from 1910 to a 2210 departure (I’ll be spending the day in Washington, so may work in my favour)

Sounds petty, but more annoyed re the outbound VS135 cutting into my lounge time … :-P

Checked, and have just rebooked on the VS91 (leaves at 1050 hrs). Cost £70 (annoyingly) but was refunded 26500 points. So swings and roundabouts I suppose.

I've been affected by a change to VS136 from 2105 to 1555 on 02/11, I had significant plans for my departure date and this has thrown them into disarray so thought I would contact Virgin.

After a couple of false starts I got someone helpful on chat. Because we are booked in P there are no indirect flights available on the way back meaning the only alternative is to move to VS130 from TPA, which isn't so bad given that we are staying our final night on the Gulf Coast, that flight isn't until 22:15 and would still mean that I would need to change my aforementioned plans.

The agent did mention that there was a 1740 flight from MCO but there was no availability on it (certainly not in PE or UC) but I don't see any evidence of the flight anywhere. She mentioned that if I wanted to move to that flight I would simply have to keep doing manual searches to find any availability and then get in contact with them.

Anyone else aware of a 1740 flight as part of the Winter schedule from MCO?

This 1740 flight has been cancelled and removed from schedule.

It seems Virgin will fly 1x daily A350 to MCO in W25, as opposed to 10 weekly flights.
They have changed it from leisure config to normal config (44 UC seats). Which is a bummer as plenty of cheap UC tickets now to MCO in January, where I booked cash ticket to MIA and upgraded.

Looking to book our flight from MAN to Fort Myers via ATL. I see they have changed it again and made it even later with a 13.30 departure and into ATL at 18.10. This leaves very little choice for our onward flight and must restrict other people looking to fly on from Delta's main hub. We have used this flight since 1997 when it was operated by DL and , until a couple of years ago it always left about 11am giving an arrival in ATL around mid afternoon. This gave plenty of choice for onward flights or sometimes even a drive from ATL.
I emailed Mr Weiss in 2023 when they first pushed the time back and was contacted by his P/A who said the change was for 'operational reasons'. What I don't understand is if they have slots already booked for which they sell tickets for several months, why they then change them for 'operational reasons' making passengers already booked having to change their plans.
Sorry about the rant but it seems as though in charge seem determined to discourage passengers from booking early

Indeed, very frustrating. Most of the time, the changes are due to airport restrictions, so Virgin will flights scheduled at X time but only closer to summer/winter season can the airport (Heathrow for example) can confirm the time slots for arrivals and departures.

Obviously if you’ve booked in advance and connection is on same ticket; you’ll be protected in any case if missing connection flight or will look to move you on alternative flight if minimum connection time is not given.

I must say Delta always have early ATL flight but sometimes fares are higher than VS and higher points if using points.

Only advice would be to look for a different airport to fly into which offers early departures (JFK, MIA for example).

So it turns out the 'helpful' person on chat promised me something that wasn't permitted. When there has been a major schedule change like we had the only option that should be offered is one from the original departure airport to the original arrival airport, MCO to LHR in our instance.

As per the above there are no seats available on the other direct flight that day, we are not able to change days and because we used a companion voucher to pay for our flights we can not go indirect because all legs would have to be on Virgin aircraft and the only indirect options used Delta for at least one leg.

This was all explained to me after more than 2 hours on the phone to Virgin. Apparently if I had accepted the TPA option offered by the person on chat and gone through with it whilst still on the chat then it would have been honoured but because I didn't, despite the fact that they had a chat transcript offering it to me, they were not permitted to complete on something that was against their policy.

However, the supervisor I ended up speaking to did manage to sort me out. I had my flights cancelled free of charge due to the schedule change and am now booked on the same flight out (0820 LHR->MCO) and the TPA flight back. The bonus(es) are that we are flying out UC rather than PE (because it was selling for less points) whilst still flying PE back and I now have 40,000 more points in my Flying Club account than I did before and will have approximately £200 refunded to me.

So Kudos to the call centre in Wales for getting me to this point and, despite some nervous moments fearing we wouldn't get our new flights having had to cancel my old flights first, saving me points and money.

Note, however, that I had to push a couple of times to get money refunded that I had paid to reserve the 'preferred premium' seats on my original flights which I had only done because there were no non preferred premium seats available at the time I booked. This grinds my gears to pay extra to get a preferred seat when there are no non preferred available, I feel like they should able to identify when this is the case and incorporate any such fee (if there should even be one at that stage) into the cost of the seat. This fee is, apparently, considered non-refundable despite the fact that they will charge it again when they resell the seat!

Welcome to V:Flyer :)

Seeing the 'Status not available' instead of 'On-time' message on a VS (or DL booking) is absolutely nothing to worry about. I don't know the reasoning behind it, however, many VS and DL flights show this on bookings even when they fly on schedule.

Some of my flight in my bookings show it, others don't, even for flights on the same booking, one shows it, the other doesn't?

VS (and DL) also usually update bookings with any schedule changes on Saturdays. Sometimes you get an email or SMS and/or you will see a message on your online booking which you may have to click to accept the schedule change (only via the full desktop version though).

The VS app isn't the best at showing schedule changes.

We are flying on the 2nd Mch...it seems to have only affected a couple of the flight days by the look of it. Our outbound and inbound flight has been put back by over 5 hours....13:20 out and 21.30 inbound
