Looks like (fingers, toes and everything else crossed) my flight from MIA to LHR on Friday could be a go :D

Only trouble online check in seems to have gone missing from my booking. Anybody got any clues ?|

A still slightly concerned Apple.

Interestingly just had a look at "manage my flights" for the VS051 on Thursday and a couple more seats are available in the bubble. Hopefully that is a sign that the flight flies! I shall approach OLCI tomorrow with a certain amount of residual trepidation however.

Yes, service is (perhaps understandably) 'unavailable'. Seems churlish to mention it, but if OLCI stays non-functioning, I wonder if twilight will be operating at LGW?

I guess that we are going to find out. ?|

Should we consider ourselves a scouting party, HDub?

Both for OLCI and Twilight, I see us in some sort of pathfinder role. ii)

Does anyone know what's going on?

Simplistically - ash gets blown about 1k miles across the sea and NATS shuts the whole Country down.

The Airlines then kick up over it, the news channels think all their christmasses have come at once (because they can ignore the boring election rubbish) and the resulting pressure forces the CAA? to reopen the airspace.

I cannot remember hearing on what technical basis that either of the two decisions were based.

Is it possible that NATS have probably blown that much dust off their 'what to do if...' manual (written in 1982) that it is in fact their fault ii)

Surely, engine manufacturer's must have shed loads of testing data coupled with Volcano boffin data x significant factor of safety = what's acceptable and what isn't? Simples Tch!

Quite so, Mr Dub, quite so.

Here's hoping we're not let down again. It's been far too much of an emotional roller-coaster ride in the mdvipond household, especially for the shorter of our contingent, who's found today - in particular - rather trying. Mrs V is currently packing again. Not sure what the record is for packing and unpacking, but I think she's trying to beat HWV's current attempt.

It seems incredible that it takes the measured persuasion of business leaders (you know, the same ones who were 'duped' by the Conservatives) to show the powers that be the way to go...

Every digit crossed for our fellow travellers over the next few days. Hope it goes smoothly for all of us.

Don't forget your maps and compasses and perhaps a dog sled team might well be in order :D

So the only thing missing is for Unite to come out and call the next BA strike and everything is back to normal!

At the risk of being banned on a VS board, I was really impressed with Willie Walsh's interview tonight - I've never really thought much of the guy but he was good form tonight.

No you won't get banned.

I know he gets a lot of stick but he turned round Aer Lingus and saved it which gets my vote

Odd. The Virgin data that feeds V-Flyer is based on sensors on the plane, so unless the feed has died, I'm a little untrusting of the MCO site.
